Stay away from any and all of the Chinese made 4x20 Colt clones, their cheap for a reason, their JUNK.

What I would recommend not to buy, Chinese made 4x20 Colt clone scopes, they are cheap for a reason, they are JUNK.

I have a BARSKA (sic?)- I think Russian made. My opinion- excellent copy. Keeps zero. No issues.

+1 on the Barska. They make a decent scope. I had an NC Star, and it wouldn't hold zero, even if you left it on the weapon! I did have a very early Chinese no name one back in the early 1990s that was actually decent, but it was $75 back then 25 years ago, which was a considerable sum.

I tried one of those Barska 4x20 scopes that are currently available. I would not recommend one.
The little leaf spring on the mount broke as soon as I installed it on a carry handle. 
Didn't care for the "chin-weld" when it was mounted to a carry handle anyways. Ended up putting it on one of those "carry handle to flat-top" adapter mounts. Oh well, at least I got it for under $30! |

I bought a "Red STAR" 3X Colt like scope back in the 80s as well (for about $75). It may be Chinese, but I have been happy with it and it's almost the same optic quality as my Colts. It has taken a beating and still holds zero fine.
I also bought a "M16 Marksman Elite" 4X scope way back when, but it was made in Japan and most say the same place that made the Colt scopes. Great quality. |

If you can find an Isreali Military Surplus, the glass is usually very good, they are built like Tanks, and can be serviced here.
Mine took a little work to get back into shape, but it now works GREAT and has a true "Been there,done that look.

I have an original Colt 4x scope w/ carry handle mount, brand new in box. I'd consider selling it if you're interested.

I can't find a hakko scope anywhere, and those look like my best bet.
I'd love to have a colt scope, but I can't justify more than a couple hundred dollars for one. Any leads on the hakko or Israeli surplus ones? |

You can find them, but it has to be from someone who doesn't think that what they have is a bar of gold. |
