Braceman has my barrel & parts finished and ready to pick up. Will go up and get them either tonight or Wednesday night. I'll have pics by the end of this week.

This may be a little off subject, but your brown 601 furniture made me think of this. Most people do not realize that the 601 stock, grip and hand guards are made from different material and are never the same color in the wild. The stock and grip are close in color and if polished up, end up looking like the same color, which is a dark brown/red. The hand guards seem to be two different color possibilities. Most that are stripped green and I assume slightly newer have a lighter brown tone, like your painted ones. There are darker brown hand guards out there, but they still are not the same color as the grip and stock are. I tend to believe they are earlier, but have zero proof of that. Some may say it is the oils that have darkened them up, but I have looked at both types and believe it only darkens up the ones that were dark to begin with. They have a hint of the red mixed in with the brown as opposed to the yellowly color mixed into the brown. The prototype sets are completely different from the 601's except the grip, which appears to be the same, but without the sling ring.
If you think this is too off subject, I can delete the post and start a new one. |

Good point. The longer I look at these the more I want to/need to repaint these. They should be much darker. Think I'll take them off and do this. I will put one of her other outfits on that is green.

Looks great! I like the green as well (not that it matters). Thanks for sharing.

Very nice build. Kinda agree that I like the green furniture best. Either set looks good enough. Hope it shoots great. Guessing early buffer tube and edgewater inside? Slicks are definitely my favorites of the platform. Thanks for sharing. Won't be too long and you will be in the 601 furniture club.

Beautiful!
I keep forgetting that you're on here, man. I don't ever go to the old forum anymore. I do miss it, but it seemed to have changed. Maybe it's just me. Hope all is going well with you. |

OK Kids and boys, after some begging, some $$$, and some horse trading, I finally have an ORIGINAL set of 601 Green Handguards. Now I have all original furniture on her. Thanks JB.

I'm going to pop a beer and stare at your pictures if you don't mind.

Congrats on the handguards--they have gotten hard to find, and those look good with most of the green paint still present!
I may be confused, though--are those the same stock and pistol grip you showed in "brown," or did you get all new green stuff? |
|
I have a Faux set I did in Brown, shown earlier. Also, earlier pics posted here with Green Hand Guards are my Faux ones, Butt stock and PG are originals in those pics. I just replaced hand guards today with real ones.

I'm going to pop a beer and stare at your pictures if you don't mind. I had the chance when I had the chance when I had an original duckbill in my possession a few weeks back. I'll have better luck with a 602 than a 601. Gorgeous rifle sir!!!!! |
