First, is there a place that I can get a good set of old school colt looking triangle handguards? And if I do find a set, is there any differences in installation? My A2 front post has a triangle clip on the front right now as it is.

Thanks your help

JSE had something like that. Don't remember if they were pistol or carbine length though.

They are for the carbine.

I purchased some aftermarket 607 style handguards a few years ago when I was in process of building my 607.  You could use a standard rear slip ring, but still needed a triangle front handguard retainer.

As can be seen by the lower rifle, I ended up cutting down some standard rifle length triangle handguards and purchased the 607 style rear handguard retainer.

Thanks for the help guys. I'd like to build a shorty old school looking rifle. I don't know the designations, but I'm sure you guys know what I mean

If you want to cut the front off of a regular set and use the back half, I think M1 Sniper might be able to help you out on the front cap.

Get  a rear cap version and cut your own own rifle lengths down.. spend a few dollars more on something you plan to show off and be proud of.

those plastic injection molded versions for 25$, all they do is look like a 607.. That's it.. I had a set and they were crap., flimsy. felt like a plastic toy gun..

The ones I made cost 3x that much but Im not here to advertise.. Its not even fun for me to make them. The originals had asbestos in them and I sure made a lot of dust doing it...

If you pay more for a quality product it will work. If you pay less for a inferior product it will fail and you will have to replace it...
Its wiser to spend money once....

So I can use that cap you posted near the gas block? Can I just use a standard delta ring at the rear?

standard delta ring, yes it will work..

Your going to use a triangle cap in the front.

should take 15 to 20 minutes with the proper tools...

PKFirearms has them.  They use a triangle front (also comes with it) and standard slip ring in rear (no separate triangle rear needed with them).  They are $30
