Did anyone see what the barrel went for?

WOW, the barrel went for $1280.55, the handguards sold for a whopping $1445.00 (and since right handguards go for about $150, that nearly $1300 for the left handguard), and the 601 upper went for $555.00.  After this sale, I fear some members here will be taking apart their 601's and selling them!

That is the pin that locks the wheel onto the rear sight

The price on the handguards was high, but not shockingly so. An undamaged set with that much green paint remaining is getting very hard to find.
The price on that upper, however, surprises me a bit.  I don't recall seeing another stripped upper anywhere near that level.
Guy is definitely going to max his numbers by separating the port door and rear sight.

I've been considering selling off some of my extra parts but, even seeing these prices, I just haven't been able to make myself do it.  I know how hard they are to replace!

I'll be interested in the final price on the rear sight, and on the BCG (considering it's not all correct).

Well.. I got the barrel which I thought sold for a fair price considering. Keeping it in the Arfcom retro community.

In regards to the handguards, and upper.. Well I bid the other guy up quite high lol.

As far as the upper price goes I bid on 2 602 uppers one went for over $700 and the one I bought was about $650   that was 3 years ago...   there were a set of 601 handguards and a colt triangle charging handle that went for 772 bucks just a few days ago.  They were nice as well...  not quites as much green paint though.   When was the last Winchester 1x14 twist barrel sold on GB    2 or 3 years ago was the last one I saw and I think it ended up between 17 to 1800   I do think this forum has spurred the love for these old weapons,  rightly so, they are awesome.  I personally have learned so much on this forum with all of the awesome members that shared their knowlege.  Thank-you

OK, we have a new record for a 601 rear sight.
$585 plus shipping.

Which means, in the current market, you can buy a complete basic AR15 for less than one good retro rear sight assembly!

BUT...this is also a prime example of the collectible market and explains why I frequently warn people that "market prices" don't mean a lot when it comes to collectible items.  There were only two guys fighting for this auction, and they were both willing to pay $580 or more for the item...today.
Tomorrow, if another sight hits the market and the "loser" of this auction (who bid $580 today) goes up against someone who is only willing to pay $250...the "new market value" will be $255 (the lowest amount required to win the new auction).

Regardless, though, today's seller can certainly celebrate!

You're missing nothing.  I have to assume these two bidders weren't looking at anything else.
The disease, she makes men crazy!

For anyone interested in the count so far (just for info's sake for anyone considering a 601 build...or selling one off)...
1-14 barrel (1280.55)
Green handguards (1445.00)
601 stripped upper (555.00)
Steel gas tube (48.00)
Type B stock and PG (305.00)
Rear sight assy (585.00)

That puts the sale at $4,218.55 so far, with the ejection port cover, charging handle and (mostly 601) BCG still to close.
Let's face it, there is probably no way he could have sold the complete rifle for what he's getting for the parts.

The only deal was the gas tube, I paid around $75 - 100 for the ones I have

I too was surprised by the low selling price on the gas tube. Maybe some people stayed out of it, since one of our own was bidding, and ended up winning it.

Updated selling points:

Previously:
1-14 barrel (1280.55)
Green handguards (1445.00)
601 stripped upper (555.00)
Steel gas tube (48.00)
Type B stock and PG (305.00)
Rear sight assy (585.00)

...and today:
the ejection port cover ($112)
and 601 charging handle ($155)
(Frankly, neither of those prices strike me as too far out of the norm.)

That raises the subtotal to $4,485.55 with just the BCG still to close.

Ever upward. I got a swell 601 upper a few years back from a member here who sold it to me at a very nice price. Other stuff in the EE very much the same. GB is great in some ways, selecton and frequency of items. But its nicer to watch from outside the ring sometimes.

I was bidding on the charging handle and gas tube. Went up to 42 on the tube and was busy and missed the ending
Went up to 125 on the CH but received an email and that guy sold me his for 120.  I paid 40 to 45 range for the 3 previous gas tube I have bought would have
Been willing to go to 60 myself

...And with the BCG going for a reasonable $255, the sale totaled $4,740.55.

Which, frankly, doesn't surprise me very much. I think it would take careful shopping--and maybe a little luck--to build a 601 from original parts for less than $4k these days.
Still, I'm guessing the seller is happy with the results!
