Whats the difference between these 2 scopes? They are both 'made in USA' engraved scopes with no white outline and look identical. I know the red box is earlier but by how long? They are both brand new never mounted scopes but are they in the right boxes? What paperwork should come with the  red box? It currently has none and I would like to pick some up to make it 100% original with papers. Thanks for the info!

I've only seen the white box come with Japanese made scopes, not USA made ones.

As BigRix said the white box came with the Hakko Japan 3x20 Colt Scopes, the red box was the Realist USA made 3x20 Colt scopes. Why don't you post photos of both scopes showing all the markings. If both are marked "made in USA" you have two Realist scopes with one in the incorrect (Hakko) box. I'd watch EE, Ebay and various firearms sites for the Realist scope paperwork, you might have to settle for a copy.

The top pictures are out of the white box and the lower pictures are out of the red box. The white box I picked up locally and the guy said his dad bought it new in the mid 60's. Thats interesting. So they are both marked made in USA so I know they are both the early realist scopes but I always figured the white box was correct haha oh well. They are both new never mounted

aeyoung for you to have what appears to be two excellent Realist Colt scopes and even with out the box and papers are worth quite a bit. I'm sure there is someone out there looking for a Hakko Colt 3x20 white box and paperwork, no doubt there's someone out there with an empty Realist red box and paperwork, I'd be posting want to buy/swap adds. Be patient they will eventually show up.
