Hello. everyone...
What would be the correct BCG for the 1969 vintage SP1 in 14XXX serial range?
What kind of carrier(were some made with full auto carriers? parked or chromed?), bolt(wide or narrow band, chromed or parked, what type of markings), type of firing pin and the firing pin retaining pin...
Thank you!

I think my 1968 had a late sp1 cut with fa serrations. Late retainer and a small head flat fp.hope this helps.

Can you please explain why a BCG with forward assist notches would be correct for an early slabside SP1 from 1969 that has no provision for forward assist?
Would this configuration be correct for all of the SP1s made around that time frame?

Colt used what ever it had on hand and was using the fwd assist carrier at that time so used  it on the SP1 line as well ,,, this is commonality of parts saves money in the long run for colt.

That may be true in many cases for Colt, but in this case, Colt started cutting ALL carriers with fa notches in 1967 to make sure there was no way any slick side carriers would end up in model 603s

I can verify this the FA notches. I still have my first AR15, unspoiled and unmodified, a pencil-barrel SP1 Carbine bought off the rack at a local Colt dealer. I think I paid $450 for it, which I thought was scandalously expensive at the time LOL. It has umpteen jillion rounds shot through it and really the finish, bore & chamber have stood the test of time admirably. It has the above mentioned semi-auto BCA with the FA cuts on the side, but is a slick side upperwi/no FA.

My 1968 SP1 had a serrated Parkerized Carrier without a C mark. So depending how long those were used, the next carrier in line would have been the C marked serrated carrier.

I have a 68 SP1 serial 131xx with a C marked slick bcg. Slick side upper as well.
