Needing an A1 full bird cage style muzzle brake for a ban compliant build. Does anyone make one? I swear I've seen them posted before, but haven't turned anything up on Google yet.

Thanks.

There were several A2 type compensators made by different manufacturers.  But no A1 type that I can recall.  Midway still offers DPMS A2 type compensator:

If the compensator has slots all the way around like the A1's, would it still be considered a compensator under MA laws?

I think as long as the opening on the business end has a small diameter it's good to go.

No one in MA (including LEO's) really knows what MA laws are.

Wow. Talk about feel good laws.

Maybe take a A1 flash hider and weld a washer into the end.

Thought I remember the old style EGW A2 "carbine" brake had slots all around like a birdcage.  Their new carbine design has holes on the bottom though.

I've thought about that. May have to go that route if I can't find anything. This is a GM clone, so a birdcage would be the only correct thing for it.

Or I could pony up the money and get a preban lower for it.

Check with John Thomas over at Retro Arms Works. He made a custom GI-style 3 prong for me, and the price was right.

Wilsoncombat used to make one. All my post 94 builds sported one. Glad those days are over, for now at least.
