i picked up a nice cotton GP sling at my local  surplus store 6.00. i'm putting it on my 604 build. i've seen plenty of picture of the front sight mounting but can't get a good view of how they attached the rear. just tied to the wrist of the rear stock??
so pics of help would be greatly appreciated..
thanks
Pete

The one time that I've seen one on a fixed stock, it was looped around the back of the stock and tied to the swivel.

I am sure you knew that. But paracord is just cool stuff.

I've got several of these slings that a fellow member made for me a few years ago.

They work great on my Stevens model 77 shotgun.  I simply tie it off on the buttstock sling swivel.

thanks folks.. i saw that post before on making the sling. i'm using a  fixed stock and wanted to see how it attaches, simply around the wrist of the stock or further back?
was thinking about running the para cord around the end  of the stock in a X type pattern crossing in front and behind the rear swivel , then i thought about removing the swivel from it's mount and running the cord through the hole in the swivel post .

i went through pages on our "Real Deal" picture thread  and can't find a good shot of the stock attachment..  there are A LOT of pics in that thread..  prolly take some more time tonight scoping out more pics..

thanks for all your input

You want the loop to actually be able to slip off the stock. Tie it as tight as you can, but just once around the stock, not 2X. I prefer making my rear attachment sling a little longer for use on a fixed stock. It will loosen up a little, and when used properly, it's the fastest, most comfortable sling I've ever used. When you bring it up, the loop will slip off the stock, giving you a little slack to shoulder the weapon. I adjust mine so I can hasty sling it to tighten it up. OTOH, you can whip it around to ride on your back when climbing or transitioning to a handgun. It just really works great for me. The key is getting it adjusted right - not too tight or too loose. This pic should help:
