I have a lead on a colt 3x USA made scope that is engraved not painted white. Mint with box and papers. What is the time period of these and also the value?

I'm wanting to say mid 60's on the American made Colt 3X20. Now does it have the fine cross hairs or the inverted post? I believe the inverted post ones are more rare. I'm thinking between 400.00-700.00 dollars. Boywonder777 is the one that needs to answer your question.

I don't know the crosshairs I'm going to look at it tomorrow. Would it be correct for a 1964 sp1?

OP, I don't have much to add but the made in USA Colt scopes are the earliest and most rare. It "should" be correct for a 1964 rifle, but I'll let someone who knows more than me confirm.

Either way, if the price is right it would be hard to pass up. Even beater Japanese scopes are in the $200-275 range, with nicer ones $300+

Sounds like it might be a USA mfg Realist scope from the very early 64-65 SP1 time period, they could go for a decent amount, mint box/papers maybe $300-$500.

Yeah this is one more thing my rifle needs so I hope I can get it! He's not really wanting to let it go but I have things he wants lol
So what is the ballpark range with the box? I'm getting numbers all over the board

Is the box red or white?

Early made in USA Realists came in the red box.......

Thanks for the info. I ended up buying the scope and a bunch of other items including a CS marked a1 stock!! The scope looks like the one in the above link but with a white box. Manual is also the same as the link. Thoughts?
