I have a M16 stock and buffer tube, problem is the screw looks like its for the A2





Is there anywhere that sells the short screw?

I bought one of these about a year ago.

You can also cut the A2 screw in half IIRC.

Gunbroker has them listed sometimes.   I would just cut it to A1 length.  A2 screws are a time a dozen, so you are not out much if you mess up

Ar15sport has them. I dropped my last one out of a stock onto the yard the other day. I never found it so I need to get one also. You could cut that screw down to length also.

Whats the lenth?



I was thinking about dremiling it in half, just don't know how the threads will do.

cut the A2 exactly in half of the overall length, not just half the threaded portion.  or you can measure and cut off 5/8".  if you're worried about the threads, thread a nut onto the screw before you cut.  after you cut, back off the nut and it will make sure the threads are good to go.

You can buy these screws at better local hardware stores.  It's just a fine thread.  I drill down the middle for the screws with the hole and cut to length for the short screws.
