Doesn't even look close to a grip screw, do you have a real grip screw to compare it to?

It looks too short for a grip screw.

None of those screws appear to be M-16 surplus in original condition.  Possibly the middle was cut down from a longer type E stock screw but I kinda doubt it with bevelled outer edge.

Left ones appear to be fixed sling stud screws that go in behind the toe on the buttstock.

Left one is a Magpul Gen II grip screw.  Gen I's were conical, and would split the MIAD grip, especially in extreme cold shooting suppressed.  Ask me how I know.

I don't know, it kind of looks like a grip screw that I have on a modern build.

I can't find it right now, but I know I have a screw just like that.  It is threaded the same as a grip screw although I haven't used it.
Of course not correct for retro and I use longer hex ones on my modern builds.

It does look too short to be a grip screw.  Here's a pic of a standard-head grip screw for comparison:

Seems to me the head is too big of a diameter but I'm going to try this in a lower and see. I've got an inside teeth washer with it.

looks like it could be a magpul MOE grip screw.  they are shorter than a standard grip screw that comes in a lpk

I tried it in a stripped lower. I tried it with an A1 grip and it works. I like it because of the bigger heads. more area to grip and tighten down the handle. So, I guess it can be used for the older style as well as the Magpul stuff?

Is there a market for these at all?

I prefer slot head screws to hex head 10/1, mostly because I can never find a hex wrench long enough.

it's a little shorter but i don't see why it wouldn't work, better than too long.

the a2 grip screw is longer than an a1 grip screw fwiw.  not sure if that has caused any issues.

Well - I have a set of screwdriver heads with hex that fit in those replaceable tip screwdrivers.  With an extension (like for a drill) it works great for grip installation!

I've used screws like the far right one - got them at a hardware section of a big box home improvement store.  For hex heads, a set of long wrenches in three sizes was less than $4.
