Not sure if they are considered Retro or not, but just wanted to share with you all. Picked up a NIB set (Didn't know they'd be NIB when ordered) recently just cause they are something I've never had. I thought the box would be something some would like to see.

Close up of the writing on the box. The red "A2" INSTANT MODIFICATION SERIES & hand guard end cap shape is printed on the end flap of the box too.

What they don't tell you is if you use those to assault someone, you have to tape them together first.  Is it me or are the ribs further apart than regular USGI? Very cool - thanks for sharing pics!

Saw a pair of these in an assortment junk box at knob creek but for for some reason, I didn't get them. Wishing I had now.

Yes, there are about half the amount of ribs & vent holes on these compared to standard A2.

I got them off a FB gun parts trader page. He only had 2 sets & the other set was spoken for as well.

Thanks, I'll have to keep my eyes open for some. Neat way to make an A2 a little different!

I forget, but I remember when tgus was selling his original 1st pattern set -they didn't have any holes IIRC. I think they too had less ribs. Wish I still had a picture.

I've put up a WTB for a pair of these. Anyone got an extra set? This has got me wanting to build an early A2.......

What's the history of these? I see that HKILLERS rifle is an A1. I thought they'd look good on an A2 build. Either /or?

these were an aftermarket "upgrade" to make your AR15 look like the "new " A2

so they would be more at home on a late SP1...since an A2 would have come with the regular A2 hg's already on 'em

Now all you need is a "Rapidex" windage knob and Lonestar fat A2 grip with trapdoor....

I'm kinda' surprised that DPMS still sells the Rapidex

and I too like to keep the furniture the same make when I can, so I try to get an LSO grip whenever I pick up a set of their HG's

If LSO is the lone star Mark, then I have a pair of the carbine ha b guards, and have had them for a while but didn't realize what I had. These are going to go on an XM177E2 build.

if the mark inside the HG's looks like this, then you do indeed have yourself a set of Lone Star Ordnance carbine handguards

too bad they aren't made as heavy as the rifle length HG's...but I believe they made the rifle length guards as heavy as they did to simulate the slightly barrel heavier feel of an A2

Yep, that's the ones. I think they'll go good on a xm177e2.

"Billy, your not afraid of no man."   "Whatever is out there Major, is NO man.", "Come On, We gotta get to tha Choppa!" "BILLY!"

but as you can see here, Billy knew how these HG's were meant to be used on the earlier guns to give them that A2 look......not actually used on an A2

Billy is afraid of NO aftermarket accessory! "Billy, what is it?" "It's a Rapidex Windage Knob Major." "Install it, DO it, DOO it NOW!" Predator could have been a 2 hour Commercial for Lone Star Furnature, Bowie Knives, and Rapidex Sight drums...what could have been. LOL

ETA - Predator is such a classic and most fanatics can recite the whole damn movie, it makes me wonder. How on God's Green Earth did the creators of original movie let Predator 2 get screwed up so badly? Worst cast ever after possibly the best cast ever, then they ruin the chances of sequals for almost a decade by making the sequal ten years in the future. So even if the second movie was a hit like the first, they wouldn't be able to make another until 1998-1999.
