I've finally settled on the configuration of my "BHD" build.

A2 lower, 603 upper and a 14.5 or 14.7 pencil barrel. I'm having the aluminum parts cerakoted but I'm not sure whether to go black or gray, thoughts?

The rifle in the ad looks gray but were A2 lowers and delta rings ever gray?

In the exact configuration of the parts I have.
Unfortunately I got those parts by taking down my kinda-sorta 603 build that I just wasn't happy with.

I would go gray based on pics of commerical 723s with the lightweight profile barrel and A1 (sans Brunton bump) upper I've seen all being gray.  In fact, I think all the 723 pics I've seen have been gray of varying shades.

Colt made early A2 lowers that were gray or they were rearsonaled A1's stamped over with A2 markings in gray, also Colt made Gray Delta Rings for a brief time but they are super hard to find. You could do the 723 early (Gray) or a late 723 (black) if going BHD build. So you could go with either color but that era would be late 723's as the 727 was in use at that time as well.

From what I have seen, the A1 and A2 receivers were both used on the 723s. I all depends on when it was made. The XM Grey NDS-16A2 lower receiver would be sweet. You will have to wait a while. McKay Enterprises has some nice A2 receivers, but they are not available in XM Grey. You would have to have it refinished. I went with the XM Grey NDS-16A1 for my 723 builds.

I already have everything except the CAR stock kit and the barrel, pretty much the main reason for this build. I'd just spray paint it if I had a cheap barrel but don't really want to do that to a $250 barrel.

At the same time the flaws in the upper could easily be covered with a rattle can job but will show with the cerakote
