On my 733 carbine clone the hand guard rotates more than normal (compared to other carbines I own)

Upon inspection it does not looks as though the piece that indexes on the barrel nut is worn, and neither is the barrel nut itself. Has anyone done a repair/build-up on that part?

I was thinking using a release agent on the barrel nut and building up the part that matches on the hand guard with JB weld or something similar.  Any suggestions?

This is a set of nice shiny Colts with the correct amount of patina to match the rest of the gun so replacing them is not an option.

I can't help in ways to repair but I took off the top HG on my Colt IDF Carbine and set it the same way just to see if I could see any small issues with the one pictured. As far as I can tell yours looks fine, so your side to side play is strange. I'm sure someone will be along in no time to help you find a solution, Good Luck.

Remember. If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find your handy.

Seriously though is there a high heat tape that could be used to tighten the slop?
