Most of you guys know that I am a retro guy...so please don’t hate on me for posting this.

I assembled a rifle today using some spare parts and came up with this. Always liked the Dissy look and came into the barrel assembly at a good price. Had a spare A2 lower and you all know the rest of the story...

Now, is it my imagination or does it look retro? I KNOW that it is a flattop and has a lot of A2 parts, but still...I will admit I used up the last of my dark grey Norrells to clean up both the upper and lower and make them match, and used an A1 flashhider up front. Is it because it is grey? Could it be the type D stock? To me it just says...retro. (And no, I have not been drinking )

For informational interest only: PSA dissy barrel, cheapie BCG, 80% lower and stuff from the big box of parts -

You have lost your mind.

Having said that, I kindof like it
I would put an A1 grip on it just because I dont like the finger bump.  Then it would look even more retro!
Maybe a carry handle rear sight would redeem you with the rabidly retro crowd!  Anyway - You are brave to put this out on this forum!  (at least you didn't mention DPMS)

It IS a cut down carry handle... and I think I have a A1 pistol grip hiding out somewhere...(No DPMS parts were used in this build)

HMMMMM lets see, toss an A1 grip, A1 birdcage flash hider, and you got yourself a retro experimental rife. I think it could use a Daniel Defense A1.5 rear sight but t each his own...

that rifle would be an excellent candidate for a chopped A2 grip

Your saving salvation is the prop that the rifle is on. Really.......good thing you are posting that non-retro rifle in the retro forum where 99.9 percent of the regulars are good guys. If you had posted a similer dysfunctional rifle over in the Mk18/CQBR thread in AR Discussions, you would literally be called everything in the book and then some. Hopefully, that .1% fella that ripped a retro regular last week won't show up, lol.
I's likes that jeep.........what is it again?....an m38?   Buddy of mine has an old flat fender, WWII vintage, that has the Ford script on the tailgate.

Figured my retro bros would give me a pass on posting it...and I can take the heat if it comes

The Mk18 thead is mild..try the Mk12 Mod 0/Mod 1 thread!

Back ground is a 1946 M38...a slow work in process....(my retro 1966 Chevy has been eating away at my time)

Wait 1946 and M38 don't add up.  Why don't you move that crazy rifle and post more Jeep pictures.

Oh,  I did get the IDF handgurad band safe and sound.  Thanks.

if you went with the triangular HG's you would need to see about getting one of the CNC Gunsmithing made A1 type rear sights for the flat tops

I like it already. But an A1 grip with that 20 rounder would visually balance well. Birdcage or maybe 3 prong ...

How do it shoot?

I second this notion, and raise you a teardrop FA.

I concur. It does look retro.

It also looks very cool and unique, I like it. Good job. And remember, if you swap any of the parts, youll have more extra parts laying around inspiring you to build yet another....

I like it, but if you change to an A1 Grip, Triangle Handguards, 3 Prong Flash Hider, Teardrop FA and a CNC A1 Carry Handle, as people have suggested, you'd have have a modern 605.

THAT is the last thing I need....(with a daughter in a private collage and all the incurred added costs ....)

Thanks for all the ideas - as per  the suggestions...A1 grip - yep I will do it. Muzzle device...living in CA I am actually going to put on a EGW brake (looks like a A2) on it so I can go featureless and be able to use standard capacity  magazines. Replacing the round FA with a teardrop FA - sure I like it! (now have to track one down)

Handguards...I like the skinny A2's -they fit my hands and are next to indestructible...

I wasn't really trying to make a retro styled rifle. It just looked retro in my eyes when it was finished. I have my retro and my more modern clones, and I wanted a dirt simple AR I could beat up, loan out to friends, and use as a range toy.
