So I was out at the Sarco showroom today and picked up a stock and while checking out I asked the guy if they had gotten any more interesting AR parts in. Then he tells me that they are getting I think he said T65 parts kits in.

I don't know much about them so I didn't ask many questions but he said they were getting lowers engraved with the proper markings even and having new barrels made for them. He had a clubfoot A1 stock from one he showed me and kinda similar but kind of funky with a crinkle textured finish.

Anyway, no idea on which configuration, time frame, price or if they will be in store only or online as well. He said "probably about the price of the other kits".

Thanks for heads up.  Are they all proprietary besides mags or anyone know if any other parts are interchangeable?  Are they metric?  Does USA tooling equal USA standard?  They do look pretty cool.  Does anyone here own one for AR comparrison  / evaluation?

LMAO! I was thinking this as soon as I saw the post. I'm over due for a trip to the Sacro show room, but can't find the time. I just ordered online two days ago. I found a different selection on available parts between the showroom and the online store.

There showroom is hit or miss but mostly miss. I have pulled two 601 stocks, three N1s and a few other things over many visits but their gun selection is really more of a museum than things they expect to sell. They have a SPAS12 there for like $3k

Much of their stuff is still in warehouses in NJ so some things listed on the website aren't available in store.

So who here has called them already this morning? Let's not seem too eager or they'll raise the prices!

The lowers look like pretty stock A1s, though it's possible they did weird stuff inside, like the Koreans did with the ejector system in the Daewoo M16 derivatives.

I've seen pictures of the internals, and the FCG looks like standard M16, and the carrier, bolt and firing pin look nearly identical.  The carrier looks like it could be dropped right into any AR15 piston conversion.

Even if the actual T65 uses a weird ejector system, you could probably just put an AR-15 spec bolt into the T65 carrier and use it on an AR15 lower.

Won't these fall under 922(r)?

I'm not familiar with it on an AR platform. The barrel and lower would be 2 US parts, how many would be needed?

ETA, just realized that the hammer, trigger, disconnector and all that jazz would be US made also, so it should be good anyway.

doesn't 922r only come into play w/ foreign made firearms or receivers?  i think you can build on a US made receiver and not worry about 922r.

I think it's supposed to be only so many foreign parts on any "non-sporting" centerfire rifle or shotgun but I could be wrong.

[#25]
The 922 r should not be an issue with this rifle. Barrel, flash hider, lower, and internals, magazine, and grip. It will be way under 922 r

922r comes into play any time a semi automatic rifle or shotgun is made into a "non-sporting configuration", at which point it must contain no more than 10 of the listed, foreign-made parts.

A US receiver is just one countable part for a semi auto rifle in a non-sporting config.  Now, an all-US made rifle of course is 922(r) compliant because it has no foreign parts at all.

As mentioned, it'll be easy to make a T65 922(r) compliant since so many parts interchange with the AR-15 family.

[#29]
On the 922r

If these are brought in as kits, the US made lower, trigger, disconnector, hammer, springs, mag body, mag base plate, mag spring, barrels and several other items would most likely be more than enough to address the 922r concerns.

Since the barrels have been used on "machine guns" they'll have to be removed from the parts kits, so a US made barrel would probably be in the works.  I'd assume that a AR15 type barrel could be easily adapted to the role based on the images.

So, I had to Google "Type 65" to get a little more information.

I've decided this is the Type 65 I really want:

You can buy this as a "parts kit" also.  No 922r compliance issues to speak of.

Maybe I have the model wrong or something but is there another Far East m16 clone that uses the club foot stock?

Everyone....I called SARCO this morning and left a voice mail with a subject who I think is named Dave at Ext 223.

Dave just called me back and identified himself as being the person who brings in all overseas kits.

Dave said that they have no plans to bring the Type 65 in and that anything that was on the showroom floor was a one off.

Dave did seem to be interested in knowing that there was interest in this product and seemed to indicate that if there was enough demand he would do what he could to get the kits into SARCO for purchase.

So call Dave if you are interested in these by calling SARCO at (610) 250-3960 and go to Ext 223.

Let SARCO know you want one.

T65 Assault Rifle

The T65 (Type 65) is an assault rifle developed and manufactured by the Combined Service Forces of ROC Army in Taiwan. Originally patterned after the Armalite AR-18 that has the short-stroke gas system, prototype unveiled in 1975 showed a rifle that is externally very-heavily influenced by the M4/M16, albeit with modified iron sights, reshaped stock, and redesigned handguards. The designated number '65' refers to the Year 65 of Republic of China (1976), the year development of this model was finalized.

Upgraded versions were designated the Type 65K2 and Type 65K3.

The T65 assault rifle was the standard issue weapon for the army and the marine corps, the truly-satisfactory T65K2 model quickly displacing all previous ones in frontline units. Although the military did not replace the T65s with the T86 in 1997, the military police is already being issued with the follow-on T91 in 2002.

quoted from urban dictionary. who knows how true it is but a good read otherwise.

T65K2
A derivative of AR-15 rifle by Arsenal 205th, Combined Service Command, Ministry of Defense, Republic of China that still has not been fully destroyed by communists on the island formerly known as Formosa, also known as Taiwan today. The design was based on AR-15, due to some butt-headed generals who said so, but the some other not-so-butt-headed generals recognized that the ball powder produced by Arsenal 203nd, under the same dominion , not only doesn't deliver enough chamber pressure, also produces hell lot of carbon and otherwise corrosive shit, so they ordered AR-18's piston to be installed instead of copying the original direct-inject mechanism. Thus the Type 65 Assault Rifle was born. Colt couldn't sue them because they have modified the gun so much, even with slight re-designed trigger group, to actually became another gun, an really ugly but otherwise lasting and effective weapon often seen in the hands of Noriega's thugs and Haitian mobs. T65K2 is the second improvement of the original Type 65. The letter T was in place of "Type" to designate indigenously made small weapons. Carrying handle was put back as mount for TS72, or newer TS85 NVG, which are roughly equivalent to 1st and 2nd generation NVG used by US armed forces, made by Factory 402nd, the same dominion. The mount was designed by idiots or conscripts and often loses parts during field maneuver. It is incompatible with anything designed for AR-15. The trigger group was further re-design of original trigger, with safe, full, burst and single options. Surprisingly, the trigger design is actually better than M-16. There is no forward assists in all T65 family, and it is not needed. It is basically a well-functioning weapon despite some design glitches. Though some design features, such as gas tube, handguard and sight mount are clumsy or simply joke, at least it shoots properly most of the time, and requires less maintenance than M16.
