My smartass answer would be get a 16" and get Adco to cut and thread it.

But my real honest answer is, out of all the 300 barrels I've seen for sale (and I've seen A LOT) I have yet to see a 14.5".

ETA: I take that back. I just remembered that Noveske does sell one, for $455.

Lol. I hardly ever think about Noveske barrels due to their prices, but it hit me after I posted the comment and went to check. BTW the Rainer Arms barrel is carbine gas, so .

Yeah I don't know shit about the 300 but I thought I had to have a pistol gas as I plan to eventually SBR it but will be a while.

I was under the impression that only 14.5 had the pistol gas, thus my need for a 14.5"

Is a 16" barrel and CAR gas good to go with most ammo and no can?

ETA: I guess I should have specified, I can't afford Noveske prices. Hell, even the Rainier is too much.

AR15Hardware.com Give these folks a call about backordering a barrel. You may even luck up on them having one in stock like I did on my 5.56 barrel. Sale thread on here Awesome to deal with.

Also, are you originally building a pistol or perm attaching a long muzzle device? But no, a lot of companies are making a 16" version with pistol gas as well as carbine gas.

CMMG and AR Stoner make decent barrels, and they are available at MidwayUSA for a reasonable price.

I am probably going to build a 300Blk next year.  What I would like to see is the groups these shoot.  100 Yards for sure but some 200, 300 would be awesome.

Are all you guys with SBR setups able to run a standard buffer tube and get reliable results? Or have you guys all switched to H or H2 buffers?

Reason being is that I want to be able to switch between uppers and use the same lower...

Originally I found my Noveske 8" to fail to lock open on empty  with GUNN 180gr subs using a H2. This is with suppressor mounted.

Might've been break in or it might've been undercharged munitions.

I switched to a CAR buffer and the gun still ran fine and never failed to lock back on empty.
I decided to run some other uppers on the CAR buffer and they all ran good.

Waiting on quickmount for my HVT, the bipod is just on there until I test my reloads.

I just finished my 300 BLK upper.  I used a Noveske 8.2" 1 in 7 twist stainless barrel.   I'm loading up some 110 grain V-Max bullets tonight and will see how it shoots tomorrow!  I really like how this one turned out.

Just finished the RTV mod on the charging handle.  Here's some closer images of the stock and mags from this rifle, before the tungsten gray cerakote.

The 110 gr Barnes TAC-TX are outstanding.   Nice and tight.

Remington 220 gr Subsonic OTM are not so good.    Like sloppy seconds.   I'm gonna try 208 gr A-max subsonic next

Oh them rounds are SEXY. They look like they're built to be bad ass. Quick off topic question. When taking apart your AFG to switch out the nud thing, how hard was it to get apart?

It came that way.  I was thinking about putting the smooth piece on but It seemed like a pain in but to do.  The polymer plastic is actually really strong.

Oh, I now how strong it is. I was asking because on the one I got, the copper nut things weren't pushed in all the way in their holes, so it was also grabbing the other side. Was just seeing if they are supposed to be that way.

Just loosen the allen heads, and it will come apart, switch the pieces out, and put it back together.  It aint difficult.

Nice!  More info please.  How much did the conversion cost?  How does it shoot?  Do you need to adjust the gas setting when you move from supers to subs?
