Enough people also say that they have had problems with plenty of other more expensive models (except for JP it seems) BCG is going to be a tough choice. Maybe stock, optic and trigger choices will come first |

Got my mega lower yesterday!
PRS, a shambled together LPK from PSA, bolt and optic are all that are left. Anyone using any of the Bushnell 3-21 optics on their MaTens? Compared to the MK6 I am also considering, the thing looks huge! |

I'm looking for input on what buffer/spring combo to get. I'm putting together a 12.5" SBR with a Rainier Arms barrel suppressed by a Saker 762, with an adjustable gas block. I'll be using a milspec buffer tube with a B5 SOPMOD.
The OP talks about using the Slash heavy buffers, but it seems like a lot of guys aren't using them with their collapsible stocks, and at $100ish or more each, I thought I would check and see if other buffers/springs work. |

View Quote Its not a Mega, but I also have a 12.5" 308. I also run a collapsible stock. It runs great with a standard 308 buffer and spring. I think the key is running an adjustable gas block obviously. I have shot mine in a couple 3 Gun matches now in the Heavy Metal division and it ran without a hiccup. I can then throw my suppressor on and have a fun day plinking out to 500M. If I do my part and read winds well, 700m has been possible even with my crappy marksmanship. ETA I checked my log book for my rifle. I have ~600 rounds through it; a mix of 175 sierras and 147 ball. It has ran great with that buffer combination on all ammo so far. |

Awesome, that's what I wanted to hear! Another question for you; How long of a handguard can you fit on your 12.5? I'm trying to get the rail as close to the muzzle device as possible, but haven't found anything that gives me a concrete answer on how much shorter the rail should be based on barrel length.
View Quote I used the 11in SLR Rifleworks solo. I'll IM you a picture. |

Anybody have any pmag M118 mags? Do they drop free? They're supposed to fit longer loaded shells but not drop free in all lowers...
These https://www.primaryarms.com/Magpul_PMAG_25_M118_LR_SR_Gen_M3_Windowed_PMAG_7_6_p/mag577.htm Also as a heads up, Primary arms is having a sale on 308 pmags, 5 bucks off 'till the 3rd. |

So what is the best set up for a super reliable .308 AR using the Mega upper and lower combo?
Barrel, BCG & buffer/spring ? Thanks, EMSflyer |

JP low mass bcg, JP silent captured recoil spring, and any barrel of your choice. Just my opinion. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Thanks, EMSflyer JP low mass bcg, JP silent captured recoil spring, and any barrel of your choice. Just my opinion. Yeah, and also throw an adjustable gas block in there. The JP LMOS and JP captured spring will literally outrun the magazine so you need to slow it down a bit to get it to be reliable and keep from having your bolt lugs ride over the top of the rounds. |

Bcg: Rubber City Armory To be more specific I am planning on a carbine size gun with a 16" to 18" mid length gas system.... |

You will want a rifle length gas system with the 18" and it wouldn't hurt on the 16" as well. .308's need longer gas systems and smaller gas ports.
Im shooting a 17" barrel with rifle length gas and an adjustable gas block thats 80% closed. |

Is 18 a good compromise? Is the 20 worth it? On the PRS, I'm sure that either model will work, but is it worth it to get the one for the 308? Do they use the same extension/tube? Finally, I need an adjustable gas block. I want to go with a rifle length gas system and will most likely use the same handguard. View Quote 18" is a good compromise. I personally chose a 20" barrel for extra velocity for shooting long distances. It's worth getting the 308 version of the PRS so that your charging handle won't hit the cheek rest. If you don't raise the cheek rest you could use either version....they're identical other than the clearance for the charging handle. Both versions of the PRS use a standard A2 receiver extension. I recommend SLR gas blocks. |

Thanks.
Has anyone used the luth-ar stock with one of these? Looks to be almost $100 cheaper than the Magpul and lighter. |

I really like mine and it replaced a PRS. I liked my PRS but when I bought a mega build from another member I replaced my PRS on it after a month with an FDE Luth MBA-1. I have noticed no real cons, its way cheaper and is nearly a pound lighter. |

Bump for those of us that are getting into the Maten game a little late.
Here is mine. Planned usage is 200-500 yards. I need to some research but I am pretty sure I want to get a Mega 16" barrel. Hope to have this finished up by Thanksgiving. Ignore the BB gun glass. It is there for effect (and motivation): |

Does anyone know if the Sentry 9 clamp on will fit comfortably under a MaTen MKM or MML handguard? TIA

I'm having a bolt catch problem. The problem is, bolt carrier is not going back far enough to allow the bolt catch to catch. I've been digging around and it seems the most likely cause is the buffer?
Here is the buffer that's in there now, along with the spring. DSG Short Carbine Buffer Armalite AR10 carbine spring Any suggestions? Carrier is a DPMS, as is the barrel. |
|
I assume you are usign a AR-15 receiver extension? That Armalite buffer sping is designed to be use in AR-10 carbine and rifle receiver extensions. It may be too long for use with AR-15 RE's. The right fix would be to get a Armalite carbine receiver extension and H3 buffer.

It's the SMOS Arms rail. It's basically an MLOK NSR for 308. In fact SMOS made all Noveskes NSRs for them.
Really thin and really strong and lightweight. |
