Good to know. I'll call tomorrow to verify what I bought. My biggest complaint with the Troy website is that there is zero info as to what the rail
Fits, dimensions, etc.

Let us know what you find out.  I just looked for about a 1/2 hour trying to find where i read that rumor about the Troy rails, and cont find it.

I found an email from troy that is fairly recent, where i asked if the rail comes with a DMPS nut or Armalite.  The response was that it includes the DPMS nut and would just clamp directly on an AR-10.  I can only assume then that the rail height will match up with a Armalite upper and there for should work on MA-10.  I just dont know what to belive anymore

ETA: I also found this installation video on youtube

ETA2: I just email troy and asked if MRF-308 will work on a Mega MA-TEN, and if the rails would line up, I will post when I hear the answer

So let me just get one thing clear....as I understand it, the MA10 was designed to use a traditional AR15 bolt catch.  But if I were looking to use a phase 5 tactical bolt catch then I'd have to go with the 308 version and modify it?  Is it not possible to use the regular one?  Many thanks to anyone who knows the answer to this question.

check out the pics on page 4 of my phase 5 and ar15 bolt catch.  you could use a regular phase 5, but why not use the 308 version?  It is more 'durable' and with the added pressure of the ar10 bolt/buffer spring, why chance it?

the phase 5 308 version may or may not need to be modified to fit.  it's kind of hit or miss.

I have an answer on the Troy MRF Rails.  Unfortunately the Troy MRF-308 will not work with MA-TEN.

Taken from Emails between me and Troy
Me: Would you happen to know if the MRF-308 will work on a Mega MA-10?  Would the to rail on the MRF and the top rail on the upper receiver line up?

Troy: The MRF .308 will not work with the Mega MA-10 unless the upper receiver has DPMS style threading and can accept the barrel nut that we provide. The upper receiver will also have to be the same height and have the same timing as the DPMS upper receiver. Chances are they do not have either. This handguard will not fit on the barrel nut that comes standard on the rifle. Thank you.

Me: Thanks for getting back to me so fast.  The MA-TEN does have DPMS threading.

I copied and pasted this from the Mega site: "Any handguard with a barrel nut designed to fit the Knight SR25 or DPMS will fit the MA-TEN upper. The MA-TEN shares a common rail height with the SR25 and the Armalite AR10."

I just want to be sure that even the DPMS version of th Troy MRF shares the rail height with SR-25 and AR-10.

Troy: Unfortunately the new version of the handguard wont share the same height between the two manufacturers. Both DPMS and Armalite just recently changed their upper receiver height and we have changed the height of our handguard to match each company. Thank you.

i just called and spoke to James.  They are all out of the 308 dpms old style rails.  he said the new dpms rails will *only* match up with the new rail height on the dpms uppers.

My Giessele SSA trigger and Phase 5 EBR came in to day!!!!!

I also just ordered a Rainier Ultra Match 20" barrel, and Armalite BCG, and Rainier Gas Block.

I also just want to verify that a Armalite BCG w/ FA will work in MA-TEN with out a FA?

From the upper to the gas block is exactly 13".  I assume that if I get a 13" rail, it will but up to the gas block without covering it.

Fulton Armory 16" SS Barrel w/ .936 gas block

JP Adjustable Gas Block

I NEED SOME RAILS!!!!!!! (just ordered the 13" Rainier rail.)

ugh... i fail at rails.  ordered the rainier, then they called me and said it was OUT OF STOCK.  ugh.

4th try: Ordered the 13.2" STAR10-13.2 Samson rail..... $427. damn.

I installed my giessele trigger tonight, and tired to install the phase 5 EBR, but the threaded pin broke. , but at least it seemed to fit pretty good, no sanding needed

it wasn't the 'fit' on mine.  it fit in there, it just had a small catch and wouldn't let me depress it fully.

no.  they said that they had no eta on the rail.  I called this AM to order it, and it didn't show out of stock until I ordered mine.  then a rep called me at noon and said they were sold out and had no eta them.  I ended up ordering a Samson 13.2, which was 427$ shipped.  Samson rail looks good though, and the guy I spoke with said that they worked with Mega in developing the rail, so I would have no fitment issues.  He even said "i have a ma-ten build in my office. you'll be happy with your build!"  I just cannot WAIT to get this finished.

Well I got home today and started building my MA-TEN. The news is not good.  I decided to go with a 18" Rainier Ultramatch...that is the good news. B E A utiful barrel. It was tight but got it in, seated and the 12" DD AR-10 Lite handguards on. I am using a Armalite BCG and UBR stock with Slash buffer and AR-10 spring, got her all together and function checked GTG. I grabbed a Magpul 20 mag and slapped it in....pulled the charging handle and oh shit, what the hell. F**K, damn. Must be the DPMS bolt catch. While swapping out the bolt catch for a regular AR bolt catch the "captured" screw fell apart. Had enough left of the screw to put her back together, just to see if I could identify the problem. The BCG does not have enough rearward space to lock back. The bolt face is right at the bolt catch (maybe just forward 1/16") when the BCG is bottomed out. Not sure what to do next.

Sampson makes the rails for Rainier I think.  I don't know why the price difference though.  I'm just praying that my 4th attempt at ordering a rail will be the final attempt!

SLUHstud, can you update OP to show the difference in the Troy rails?  If you want, I can help you write it since I've been through hell and back with the rail situation.

The AR-10 bolt catch I tried wouldn't even fit into the slot in the receiver, however the DPMS .308 bolt catch I tried works perfectly after 30 seconds with a dremel tool.

Your buffer spring may be too long ?  or maybe you have the wrong buffer from slash, as in too long.
With the buffer in hand you should be able too compress all of the spring and have the bumper on the buffer exposed.

I tried a AR-15 carbine buffer spring and had the same problem. Does anyone have the length on the Slash buffer that works. I ordered the buffer and spring that Mega has on the MA-TEN info page (links to Rainier). Has anyone built a MA-TEN with a UBR that has been range tested??? I hope that I just got the wrong buffer somehow. My MA-TEN looks kickass. I got the MA-TEN from Rainier, who do I call to get a replacement bolt catch keeper screw thingy???  The DD 12" AR-10 lite rail fits like a glove. The Geissele SSA trigger fits great also. My DPMS .308 mag catch dropped right in with no problems. I stuck my barrel in the freezer for about 45 min and heated the upper threads with a heat gun for a few min. and it helped to get the barrel in the upper. The BADASS safety was GTG also.

The 3rd post in this thread is my build man.  MATEN and UBR.  Slash's CAR-10 buffer and his modded AR10 spring.  Works like a champ and looks kickass too.
I took the UBR off - just too dang heavy.  I built a 16" battle style rifle.  The new SOPMOD I just put on makes me smile when I pick up my rifle now.
Now I just need to shed some weight off in FRONT of the receiver.  I'm workin' on it....

I like the MagPul A.S.A.P. sling plate. Unfortunately, due to the shape of the receiver, the little "flanges" on the ASAP plate need to be relieved to fit.
