Mega / BA Hason 14.5 Middy + pinned A2X / ALG EMR 13 / Geissele SSA / M3 + LT150 / X300U

The MOE SL is very beard friendly but I put one of my wife's elastic hairbands on the buffer tube for extra insurance

6920 with newly installed KMR Alpha 15.  Shaved and diy parkerized FSB.  (Need to redo, my first attempt is pretty uneven.).  Topped off with a SD-E trigger.  I've had the rifle for 2 years now and only recently decided to modify it.

Curious to see what I can do with it.

I don't like the super short "toe" on the SL-K ... it forces you to put the gun lower into your shoulder and get all tactical turtle / hunched down.

The SL lets you stay more heads up.  It's one of the things I prefer about the SL over the SOPMOD too.

Here's a photochoped SL on a MK18 Mod 0, I like it.

This is mine with a CTR.

Yeah, that's my concern about it too.  I've never tried one though.

I don't always shoot this far upright, but I was trying to be really precise.   The CAR stock is pretty much too short when trying to shoot like this.  Or it's hanging on by a 1/4" and it's just annoying.  I've got kind of a long neck too, so....

TheHammer:  I really like it on there.   But you'll lose street cred with the cloners.

You guys are terrible! Now I won't rest till I have an SL for side by side comparison.
To be honest, I clicked place order before I realized it was a K. I don't notice any turtle necking and I'm 6'1" 220lbs. Don't have any real time behind the K though yet as I just finished this one.
Here is some awful picks of an SL-K, B5 and a MOE.

Not terribly shorter toe.

I never had a "tactical turtlenecking" issue before and I'm 6'.

And those pics just reinforced that a SOPMOD is way better to my needs with more surface to get a much better cheek weld. The advantage goes to a better cheek weld. YMMV.

Did you ever try the older sopmod in comparison to the B5?  I like how the B5 has the angle to it.  For some reason that seems to make a big difference in feel with other stocks....  I've never got to try any of the sopmods though.  They always look to me like it would force your head over on too much of an angle.......

Those SL-K's are pretty cool.   I guess the upside is it's probably a bit lighter than the regular version.  Not sure how much though......

I have not tried the older sopmod. I have only tried a few of the adjustables. My all time fav/default will always be an A1.

You can't beat an A1 stock....    Although I don't really like the rounded butt pad, unless it's the rubber one.  It slips off the shoulder more easily.

I'm not sure if you can see those groups.  They were at 100 and I was pretty impressed with that upper and set up.  That one group stinking small, if it didn't have the first shot or one I pulled about 1.5" away from the rest.

Hopefully it's just an optical illusion that I'm seeing, but it appears that your scope housing may be cracking just in front of the mount?

FWIW, mines not a Colt marked one.  But it works well.  It's older, and the little spec sheet that came with it had no manufacture markings.  So...  I'm not even sure what kind it is.  It was not marked anywhere on it either.  Before I painted it.....  The BDC seems to work and it holds zero as long as it's tight in the mount.  On my A2 I have to add some tape or something.  I think I actually added some pieces of aluminum can when I had it mounted on that A1 upper.

As far as your AR there, that thing is freaking awesome.  I wouldn't change a thing on that one!!!!!

I think those lowers are cool.   Nice set up!

Got the VFG in today. I've been torn on what stock to go with, was about to pull the trigger on a SL but ended up ordering a B5 Bravo. I had a B5 SOPMOD on another build (before I got in to SBRs) and liked it except for the weight.

And those pics just reinforced that a SOPMOD is way better to my needs with more surface to get a much better cheek weld. The advantage goes to a better cheek weld. YMMV.

I don't like the super short "toe" on the SL-K ... it forces you to put the gun lower into your shoulder and get all tactical turtle / hunched down.

The SL lets you stay more heads up.  It's one of the things I prefer about the SL over the SOPMOD too.

Agreed 100%. While the new SL is cool looking, cheek weld is all important IMO.

Awesome.

Yes.  The only way I can see it being better, is if your carry handled carbine was an A1 upper.  Then you sort of have all the bases covered.     But on it's own an A2 carbined upper is sweeeeeeeet.   For me I like having the option of turning the wheels if I want to.  But there's something really sweet about an A1 upper with an M4 type barrel.

But yeah, you've got a GREAT FAMILY!
