Heres my Ruger SR-556 FB.
Its very well built...I like it.
Great Gun.

I added an Blue Force front sling mount (Rail Mounted Fixed Loop - RMFL) and a Midwest Industries End Plate Single Sling Mount (MCTAR-13). I changed out the grip for a Magpul MOE Grip...nothing wrong with the one that came on it I just like the Magpul better. Right now it also has a Magpul Vertical fore grip (RVG). It has an EOTECH M512.A65 on top.

That looks painful... why would you want something sharp like that on your weapon?

According to the designer, part of the reason was for defensive purposes.  The design was to help prevent bad guys in CQ settings from grabbing the barrel of an officer.  At least in some sense it was explained to me that it helps to get them to let go of the firearm when getting stuck by the rail on their hand.  Perhaps you don't see it, not sure if I do. But looks wicked cool on the complete rifles.

You could call them "clearance cuts" for the horizontal blast that some muzzle devices have.

And here is a rifle my friend is working on. It's his first AR and he's not done yet, but it's certainly coming along well!

It's a secret, apparently.  We have been asking him about his pointy stuff for a while.

That said; why?  That damn thing would get caught on everything, and eventually induce unwanted blood loss on at least one mammal in my household.
