Quick answer: if done right no Long answer: Cerakote is a ceramic epoxy paint, and typical of epoxy it has two parts. I have worked a lot with Cerakote and found that the ratio of paint to hardener will determine the shininess of the finish. The more hardener, the more it of shine it will have. A good Cerakote shop will know the best measurements for flat finish and still be within the proper mix ratio. Most receivers are made of 7075-T6 Aluminum and a true milspec type 2 Class III hard coat anodize dyed FDE should will give you a bronze look, like on my setup pictured a few post above. Troy Rails are made of 6061-T6 Aluminum and that's how they get the lighter FDE color when anodized. Unfortunately unless you get the receiver in the white, re-anodizing will be a reprocess and will throw the receiver tolerances off during the stripping of the old finish. In my case i started to see pin walk after i had mine redone. The hammer and trigger pin are now out of spec. I hope this helps, good luck |

In the Sun it can sparkle, more like a iridescent sheen. To be frank, it sparkles about as much as sand does in direct sunlight.

Thanks! I used Arvoe's Field Drab then sprayed over it with Krylon tan along with a laundry bag. I'm pleased with the outcome as well.

I've seen some that look like Gold Flake and I think something wasn't done right during the process. http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c222/creedlemyerjones/P1000153.jpg http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c222/creedlemyerjones/P1000155.jpg Wow...I never wanted a glock until now... |

Thanks, guys. I was worried I'd be looking like a Impala or something. Definitely going to cerakote my next AR.
