On a side note, I think it's interesting how difficult it is to track down what exactly I have.  You see at the time I knew what I was buying.  Over time, I forgot so I looked on the box, nothing.  Website, nothing.  So I just have to physcially examine it to know.  Each upper isn't necessarily listed as a specific model.  I find a lot of upper Noveske's that match mine, but then for instance the flash hider is different so if you want to refer someone it would be a little bit difficult I guess.  Not a huge deal, just wish there were particular models so if you said you have blah blah blah, people know.  On the other hand, its good because it means there are so many variants.  No two are the same it may feel like.

They are asking about the rail length, not the barrel.

Sorry it says 13.5 on the side so that's gotta be it.  The fact I got my PMAG in justifies another post!  Still waiting on Noveske QD attachment and more rail covers.  I did install the 4 rail keymod so the angled grip was not hanging off.  Kinda upset the 9 and 4 rails cant fully flush together, oh well.

Does Burnt Bronze with FDE work?  I'm liking it so far, and it really looks good in person.

I'm waiting to receive my GGG front sight, and still kicking around ideas for an optic.  I might go with a 1-4 power scope in a Wilson Combat riser/mount.  If I do, I'll cerakote the riser/mount in Magpul FDE, but then again I might go with a Micro Aimpoint.  I have to get something worthy of the Daniel Defense cold hammer forged bbl, it's pretty damn accurate for a chrome lined bbl.  It shoots as good as my stainless WOA Recon bbl.

Sorry about the phone camera quality.

Different lighting.

Nothing special. Love the NSR though. Best investment in my AR that I've ever made. Optic is usually a Mueller SpeedShot 1-4x in a vortex mount but took off to make some adjustments.

My guns, Cliff's photo. I was never particularly a fan of FDE until I got that Sig 229 Scorpion...then the 1911, now this.

That's from Hogue.  Same as the grips on the pistols. They're not popular because they're stupid expensive...the only reason I bought it was to match those pistols.

It looks badass. The one thing I never liked about micarta is how sharp it can get. That can be fixed with some sandpaper though

Thanks!  The texture is what they call piranha...it's not that bad.  I did file out a mag release recess in that 1911 grip - took a lot of time.  That stuff is pretty hazardous to breathe in too, for anyone reading this.

I think your set up looks great.  Where in MO are you?  If you're around the KC area, I'd like to see that one someday.

Yes. I did the hand guard too, that's why it matches. I'm honestly not a fan of the color, it's so light that it shows dirt very easily. But the owner likes it.

Take a look at the Vortex Viper PST 1-4. The warranty can't be beat (no fault, lifetime, transferrable) and they're not all that expensive.  I have one I'll bring up to the shop and let you take a look at.

FINALLY, I get to post in this thread. This post cost me about $3000 bucks but it was worth it. Here's my new Colt M4 . I painted the upper, lower, KAC RAS rail and optic with Dark Earth Alumahyde II. As you can see it is a shade darker than Magpul FDE. Also added a Geiselle trigger and PRI brake as I am hoping to get into 3 gun this fall. I also just ordered a midlength free float rail which will get painted and replace the KAC rail in a couple weeks. I'm also going to paint the dust cover which I missed last time, and perhaps the stock. But I think I'm off to a good start:
