I say wait and see, i would not give my money to anyone that will not refund. Patience will pay off in the long run. |

Thank you for the reply. I have feelers out with 3 different distributors as well as gunbroker and Buds gun shop. I will let you people know if I hear anything. You may get a laugh out of this but I already bought an ACOG TA11E, 10 P mags, GPS2 grip pod(actually got GPS2 free. Active USMC) Voodoo tactical rifle case, VTAC sling and of course ammo. Hornady Superformance 150gn, 147gn ball, and Tracers. Hope you are right about the rifles getting out there by this month.

From the article..
That’s right, the lower receiver of this gun accepts both Magpul .308 magazines (not the standard .308 PMAGS, however) and
WTF? Maybe I'm still a noob in 308 but are there two lines of PMAGs? |

I hesitate to say this, because I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but the 901 takes proprietary PMAGS that are NOT the standard 20LRs. This straight from the rep who handed our staff member the gun at Media Day. There's a picture of him shooting it at the top of the blog article. The PMAGs the 901 takes are proprietary, according to Colt. I believe this has something to do with the mag catch having to work with both the .308 and 5.56 magazines without having to swap out any parts in the lower. Look at the mag catch area of an SR-25 compared to an AR-15. See what I mean? Maybe there will be a way to modify standard 20LR mags to fit the 901, I don't know. But for now I wouldn't stock up on mags in preparation for buying this rifle. |

The Defense Review pics look just like standard PMAGs. Even in our photo of staff shooting the rifle, the mag clearly says on the side "PMAG 20LR" with no special designation whatsoever. Nevertheless, our staff was told that these are made for Colt and are proprietary. So I'm just passing that along. Maybe the Colt guy at SHOT Show was misinformed. |

Rumor (just rumor) is that Magpul modified the PMag to work better with the 901. So there may well be a Gen 2 PMag for the SR25/901 guns.
But who knows, we can't be sure until its on the market and in our grubby little hands. |

Good news! I emailed Magpul directly earlier today about this and got the straight skinny. Colt did indeed spec out a mag that will ship with the 901, its a 20LR with some sort of overtravel stop built in. HOWEVER, any PMAG 20LR or SR25 magazine will work and function in the 901! So the mag that will come with the gun is not really proprietary, just the "preferred" mag design.
I don't know about you guys but I'm relieved. |

On Colt's Facebook page today concerning the 901 delivery time...
"We're still expecting the first round of shipments out by the end of this month. Depending on your distributors order, it very well may be April before they arrive. Hope this clears up any confusion. Thank you." |

Some distributors will get marketing guns in advance of actual distribution shipments. There is a chance these marketing guns might make it to those distributors in March. |

I'll be running mine pretty much exclusively as a 7.62 carbine but I got to thinking about the adaptor used for the 5.56 uppers...wonder if something similar could be done to use the 9mm SMG uppers as well?!?!

I don't see why not. Adapter seems to use the standard front hole pin in the upper receiver, so just make a different/larger adapter with a smaller mag well inside. Wouldn't be that hard. Now the fun question is, considering how cavernous that mag well is... could you make an adapter to use AK mags for a 7.62x39? LOL |

So I don't know how a mag well adapter would work, but I suppose anything is possible. |

RRA is selling one now. |

I'd buy it. 308 AR is really the better platform to use the AK mag via adapter or dedicated lower, much like the PTR-32 is a 308 converted to 7.62x39. Why limit options?

Predator and Jagdkommando had a bet(two 7.62 PMags) going about if the Colt 901 would be out this month. Look back on the last few pages to see. Jagdkommando lost and is making good on his word to send the PMags to Predator. Still unsure about when the 901 will be out. ARKAR |

ok thanks. I am so pumped up and afraid to miss the boat on the first batch of 901's that I'm just waiting for a sighting. I really like the look of the 901 on Facebook with the ACOG TA11 on it. I bought an ACOG TA11E for my soon to own 901 "i hope" Please, anyone, when you have an in on the 901 let it be known where. I will do the same.
