For that reason, I have JP 416SS full mass carriers on my high end rifles because I am a brat like that. Moral of the story, Aluminum doesnt rust. Its oxidizes and pits or corrodes, but not from regular handling. P.S. - WD40 still smells amazing to this day. |

The "best looking" lowers I've ever seen have been cast. The "best" lowers I've seen are Colt forged lowers.

All 4 of my Colts (circa '91, '92, '11 and '12) have left-over flash in the trigger guard. The only one with a A2 upper receiver also has inside the carry handle area.

Can anyone shed any light on it? its been answered before but it was a long time ago its mark left on the lower by a fixture when its clamped in to do some kinda of non destructive test to insure quality. I forget what the test checked for. its been a long time. |

It's louder than I was expecting, but quieter than the 12.5" .308 I've used with the same silencer. The suppressor was run dry. |

Definitely agree about the brass ejection. Wow it really makes em fly across the range. I had to apologize the other day.... Was all good after I let the other range rats get a few squeezes in.

Yeah, Brass call the day I shot a lot of rounds really sucked bc I had to get onto hands and knees marine corp style and search. shit was scattered 3-4 feet away for prone. I should have put a bag to block the brass. Lesson learned. |

I think I might have to have one of these.....I'd have to make it NJ compilant though.

I get those extractor marks, but they rub off with cleaner, then oil. So, you are saying it actually is removing the parkerizing?
Wouldnt be a big deal for me. I own 6 Ar's, only one is my "showcase, dont you even think of touching it" gun. (that would be my 6mm variant that I can write the 2nd amendment with at 100 yards) Only other thing would bother me is if the brass gets torn up.... does it? |

Agree. Brass looks great out my 901.
|

|
It does not damage brass
and it does not beat the anodizing off the case deflector. This reminds me of an old thread in the tech forum where guys gave tips on how to keep it looking new by putting electrical tape over the deflector or the soft side of velcro. The brass smears just made them lose sleep at night. It sooooo ruined the perfect fit and finish. lol that was even more dumb then the putting O rings on the forward pivot pin to keep it from having any play |

Did not remove parkerizing! And the cartridges that i collected had zero dents. I just thought it was an interesting image to compare. I also was drinking that night |

Our 901 has brass marks, and it will have a bunch more. We shot some steel with it at Rock Castle this weekend and it was great. We let quite a few people shoot it and they all commented how little recoil it had for a 308. These are great rifles.

^ I want your NF! that looks like a great set up. love how you kept the optic low!
what reticle is that? I am still trying to figure which optic for me. Leupold Mk4 or NF or cheapo swfa optic that has not been shipped or out yet. |
|
|
They have been hard to find lately, supposedly NF hasn't had a production run for these since last year. They are starting a new run however....
It's the FC -2 reticle. Great eye relief, illumination and 4x mag. I thought it was perfect for this rifle and the hog slaying I plan on doing with it. |

Im kinda really likeing the magnification options that one has. the mil-dot and Np r2 will probably the 2 reticles i prefer. .http://nightforceoptics.com/2.5-10-x-32-nxs-riflescope/ |

I have question for some of you. how does the ACOG 3.5x TA11 compare to the Night Force that is pictured? I would like to know how they stack up against each other. I have a lot of experience with an ACOG but none with the NF. thanks

In my mind, the best way to put it in perspective is to think of the ACOG as the general issue to every man optic, say, the AK47 of magnified optics, simple, tough, easy to understand etc. The NF is not as tough but would be the professional sniper assaulters optic, cant not do everything, but can be pressed into service to do almost anything within reason. Does that help? |

Compared to my ACOG, this optic is way more versatile up close and more precise at 4x. All depends on intended use, I will be using my 901 for mowing flushed hogs one day and the next day it'll be on the bipod banging targets at 100 + in short it's perfect for my application.

Does anyone know if these rifles will function correctly with a 223/556 standard rifle buffer/tube/spring?
I would like to set one up with an regular A2 stock. I will use Colt parts of course! Thanks! |

I am lock-ed in, so have no qualms about passing along the info. I am paying $1993 (my mistake) for the SP901. It is through RSR distributors. Any one interested, move fast. they had 10, as per my shop (now nine! nyuk, nyuk).

As far as the buffer and spring - I guess just so you wouldn't have to change them out to switch calibers. As long as you used the stiffer spring, what harm could it do other than cause malfunctions? |
