I just wish somebody had made me "the bet" for July, I need more magazines! DR Very nice! Happy these are finally a reality. Are they coming with the conversion kit for the 5.56? Also any word on obtaining more Colt Spec Pmags for these? I can't find info on either through my distros... |

Don't care about the letter and I've waited years already so what's a little longer gonna hurt!?!? |

I sure wouldnt let the 6940 unless I had two alreay |

I am a dealer, the rifles I had to order are for sale, in no way am I touching any of my 5 Colts in my personal collection. I am having a hard time parting with the ones I just ordered but can't tie that much cash up at once, not a big dealer just a little guy.

Can't wait to get home from afghaniland to pick it up at my FFL |

Still rounding up funds. Jealous of you gents that can just slap funds together and even buy extra rifles just to get one. :) Still trying to sell a Kimber.
|
|
|
Does anyone have a clue what it will be shipped with or in? Is it different from the T&E packages that were sent out?
Does it come with a case or 2 mags or in a cardboard box? |
|
|
you got tricked into a Kimber? sorry to hear that. The Corps got rid of them things long ago. Good luck getting a 901 bro. Hang in there, it will happen.

Has anyone tried the new "Manta rails" I haven't gotten my hands on any but want to put them on my 901. KAC rails are to slippery in my opinion.

Ratworx lists them at $2099.

Any idea when the FDE colored units are going to be produced? Hopefully by Xmas.

I'm going to pick mine up today…. so a couple questions:
1) Serial number thread? 2) What optic? ~Jeff |
|

How much are you guys paying for these? I really want one, but can't find any local... yet.

I would not get carried away with huge optics and high magnification fellas. The gun is not a sniper rifle and if you set it up for something like that you are going to really be wasting its potential I got a T-1 on the one colt sent me and it works out great. you can run the 901 just like a 556 carbine but a little more recoil. Obviously you are going to do what you want, but sticking some big magnified optic on it will be a waste in my opinion, ACOG or something like the CQBSS I think is not a bad idea, but i would not stick some 5x-15x or some such on the gun. |

Yeah...I'm going Aimpoint T-1 or Trijicon Accupoint 1-4. |

I thought I was being clear. My bad... I have number 213 and am running an Eotech for now. I'm happy with it so far.... |
|
|
I am going to see what the accuracy potential of my 901 is by mounting a 15x NF that I use primarily on another rifle. After I see what the rifle is capable of I will more than likely run a EoTech or a 1-4 optic of some sort. Right now I just need a few mags. Some guys might mock me for this, but even though I plan on shooting the heck out of serial number 113, I am not going to open up the package with the "colt spec" P mags.
|
|
|
I ran both mag types today and purposely used the mag as a monopod. Both worked fine and locked back.
Found out the sights are too low to cowitness with the Eotech. Not a huge deal. |
|
|
I have serial # 175. I am running an Trijicon ACOG. Coyote brown Manta rails, grip pod. Setting it up CQB/urbin/3 gun//hunting rifle. Kind of an all around rifle. I'm kind of surprised nobody is running an ACOG. They are very rugged and a great all around optic. Perfect for a battle rifle like the 901

Yo jag my rifle was built right after yours
Mine is 114 I'm gonna shoot the crap outta this rifle! Can't wait. It better be worth it bc I took one hell of an ass chewing from my grumpy ass women Im with. Why save colt P Mags? |

Shawn, What do you think about using one of the new 2MOA T-1's to wring a little more out of the 901? sure, I think anytime you got a smaller aiming dot you can shoot more precisely, but I tihnk too small a dot makes harder to shoot fast in a run and gun kinda way if its so small you have trouble finding it. I have not tried the new T-1 because I have never cared for the smaller dots size on other optics. I just turn down the power setting when I need to make a more precise shot. Im sure the smaller dot would help out though if you like it of course a RDS is always limited when it comes to surgical shooting, You can do some great things with them though just make sure you understand its limits and not expect 1/4 inch groups at 100 yards when using them Im thinking it would be wise to think real hard on what you intend to use the 901 for before buying optics. If you think of it as a longer range recce. then get some variable optics with a BDC reticle or mildot. if you want to shoot if iff the bench all the time, then stick on a 24x if you like, since it wont matter. If you are going to use it just like a carbine, use a aimpoint, If it will not see as much work as your 556, and you see it as something you would just take longer shots with or a general purpose rifle, then the ACOG would be a good choice I strongly recommend being honest with yourselves about what you will use it for and how much you will shoot it before you just slap on optics that may just seem cool. I think if its going to be used hard and a lot, the ideal situation would be to have two optics. I have been using a T-1 and a ACOG TA31F on larue mounts and swap around depending on what I am going to do with it I think going 10x or more and using it like a medium range sniper/target gun would be a huge waste of its ability unless you are just doing it to test accuracy temporarily |

Have you all seen how much people are paying for 901's on gunbroker? One went for 4,000$ "buy it now. another went for 2,550$ unbelievable.

It's strange how people just purchased their rifles and this thread has slowed.
Is the 16.1 inch measurement on the barrel including the 2" vortex flash hider? Does anyone else find it weird that colt would make a certificate stating 1 of 100 first distributed to public with weapons with serial numbers of for say >100. I guess adds to collective value??? Waiting for more gun porn pics from LoosRounds for post #3 |

One sold for 3,099. Wonder when and where they will sell the "colt pmag" , even though the others are still good to go from the fielding reports |

guys. no offense but lets not get carried away with showing the auctions and links to jackasses selling the thing for insane prices every time one pops up.
if its in stock some where for a good dea or normal price lets post it, but I would hate to see this thread degenerate the way the retro forum did from a few years ago where it was constant linking to gunbroker and ebay just to see how much people were trying to gouge prices. when all know it happens |
