My dad is a vet (army tanker)  he is in a senior apartments and a company came and did a presentation on how they can help get him home care and attendant pay.  They ay he may qualify for home care services and that they are more than glad to help him out.
They claim that they will file the paperwork for him and provide a loan for home care while his file is being approved.  They would use the back pay he receives (once approved by the VA) to pay off the loan.  I would be required to cosign on the loan with him (this is not within my comfort zone)
The company rep says that I would only be liable for the loan if dad was dishonest in his financial statements.  This concerns me due to the fact that he is separated and not divorced from his wife (Loooooooooooooooong story)  I worry that he may not be able to keep track of his wife's finances and will get declined as a result (requiring us to pay the loan for home care services)

Does anybody here have any input on the company?  Good or bad experiences?  The company is named Veterans Home Care.

If a company claiming to help vets with healthcare but also wants to give out "loans".... I'd run from that shit as fast as possible. Sounds like a scam targeting the elderly to me.

They make it seem like the loan will be used for home care prior to approval from the VA.  As long as the paperwork is ok the loan will be paid when the VA approves it.   But if he is not authorized then he is responsible for the full amount.  But yes, it looks shady as a three-legged hooker.

It's a scam to basically steal his benefits.  If you have questions, contact the VA directly.  They have folks who know the rules and will help.  Avoid anyone asking for money and claiming to represent Vets.

Also, some states, and California is one has a California State Veterans Office  https://www.calvet.ca.gov/.  Heck, there are at least half a dozen in SoCal.

No! do not get a loan!
I encourage you to take some time and jump on google and look this stuff up.

Companies that are looking to profit off of veterans that the vet can do for themselves for free is shameful.
Enter in some keywords you put in your paragraph in google.

I do not know if this link would help in your specific situation.
