Watching Doomsday Preppers to learn how to be prepared is like watching Die Hard to learn how to shoot.
Anyone truly interested in learning survival and self-reliance skills would be much better served by buying a subscription to Backwoods Home Magazine. |

do these people ask to be on this show or does the show seek them out? Much like television news, they always seem to find the biggest moran available to interviewor feature.

View Quote How so? For myself, after going through Hurricane Sandy I am a full believer in being prepared and self reliant as much as possible. We are in eastern PA, and got our asses handed to us by that storm. 4 weeks of no power in my area. I was always set-up to last a couple of weeks of living off the grid, but that storm made me escalate my preps. |

The wife & I watched it every week back in 2012 when doomsday prophecies were in style but not so much anymore. We did learn some tips in it. I think the most important one is having a plan that involves family instead of friends.

Just like every interest out there, some take it a little TOO far. That being said, there are posters who have a vast amount of knowledge and love to share it. It's a great resource. |

it's entertaining to watch, but that's it. i think they try to find the biggest wackos out there and put them on the show.

The show has asked some you tube prepper guys, the sane ones basically say no.
Yankee prepper, who to chase away the crazy has changed his foucs of his channel a little bit to get rid of them Brooklyn Prepper Southern Prepper 1 LDS prepper Have all been asked I believe and all said no thanks. I think they offer 3000 dollars. The huge fat guy desarti is on you tube as well and he took the money...He also a real dumb ass. He hard to listen to since he so inarticulate. NYWy, I saw the show early on but....it not too useful. they do their best to portray the people as stupid or crazy etc... |

They intentionally find the biggest idiots. Not only are the morons more entertaining, it helps further their goal of making gun owners and preppers look bad. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

Who wants to be identified as a 'prepper' now? Like all liberal media, they all have an agenda. And we all know now what that agenda is |

I believe a lot of what you see has been staged for dramatic effect. I recall the family in Alaska who was demonstrating some Rube Goldberg tactic for blocking a riverway by shooting a tree strapped with a belt of Tannerite from a boat a couple hundred yards away. The idea being that they would wrap a few strategically located trees along the water with these belts of Tannerite and then when it was time to bug-out they could blow them with the rifle to prevent others from following them Frankly, keeping a chainsaw handy in the bug-out boat would make a lot more sense, be more reliable and much more versatile.

Why start another thread about this show when there are already a ton of them?
What's the point of paying for a search function if you aren't capable of using it and always duping threads? |
