So, if memory serves (ie Wiki doesn't lie), Keke Rossberg won the 1984 F1 race sun in Texas (in Fair Park in Dallas)

I don't watch F1 nearly as close as a lot of people, but I can't think of a time when F1 cars sounded worse than they do now. . .  They need to install soundakators or something.

Penske constructed their cars in England, but the CART/IRL team was based in Pennsylvania.

And yeah, Lola has always been based in England. I've spent a few months in the factory. I miss Lola

that is a shame I was hoping Rosberg would win

I was wrong with my prediction and I am glad that this did not turn out to be what I had thought would happen.

I had hoped that Massa would end up on the 3rd step

i would say Ricciardo is equal or even a little better.  Put him into the Merc against Hami and you would see an even better fight.

FIFY And he hasn't won yet.

I still think Alonso is the best on the grid, his head is just not in the game anymore.

As far as there being an F1 team based in the US, I don't see it.  Haas will end up in the UK most likely, or Italy if they do end up becoming Ferrari's B team.. It would be too hard to find personnel otherwise.

I enjoyed seeing the safety car driving and now have a great urge to buy an E63 AMG wagon. Unfortunately I don't have the money for one.

Watching the helicopter chase the cars was pretty fun. It gets a lot lower than the video feed from it makes it seem.

Hamilton with a couple laps to go.

Button with Alonso in trail.

I had a lot of fun in Austin for the short period of time I was there. I took over 150 pics and a couple videos so these are only a small sample but, many of my pics are just parts of cars. It took a little trial and error before I figured out when to take a pic. I wore earplugs the whole time. I never got to see the previous cars live but the current generation are still fairly loud as are the speakers that play the commentary.

I know what you're saying.. I've always considered motorsports to be above other sports in this regard though.  Shit like this just didn't happen before NASCAR sensationalized it.

Racing is too damn dangerous to be pissed off enough to swing at someone.. I would bench one of my drivers if they acted like that, because I would sincerely question their decision making skills while driving.

Mercedes' Cowboy hats

Lotus' Cowboy hat

I was at the top of the observation tower during the Ferrari Challenge race 2, and again during the opening ceremonies

This is the only good picture I got from my seats at turn 12

Ok, I realized the placeholder a page or two ago was pretty useless as it's unlikely people will go back and look for picture from the weekend.

Here are the pictures I got from the 3 days at COTA.

ETA: I was able to snag some pretty good autographs this weekend:

The poster was signed by Nico Hulkenberg, I also got Driver Cards from Hulkenberg (they handed it to me with the poster), Daniil Kvyat, and Sergio Perez.

The small packet next to Hulkenberg's Drivers Card was signed by Vettel.

The program was signed by Nico Rosberg
