what do you think will happen to Joe Pa at the end of the season?
Link Posted: 11/7/2011 1:50:41 PM EDT
[#1]

I think one of three things will happen.

1. He will be forced to resign
2. The stress combined with his old age will make him resign

3. He will croak

It's a sad way to go that's for sure.  It's sad to see a program like that or any program tarnished buy some sicko's.
'Ol Joe is way past due for retirement though.   What has he really been doing for the last several years?  He's not actually doing any coaching on the field.  He's strictly a figure head used for recruiting and PR.

He's done. Contract is up. Alumni money will dry up if he doesnt go. He knew Sandusky was raping kids. Did nothing to report it to the authorites. Only reported it to the AD. He was trying to protect the program and it will fuck them all in the end(no pun intended)......Adios MF'er

I think Joe Pa should have hung it up long ago................I hate to see the old man go out like that, but aside from the age issue, news reports say he knew all about the scandal and waited to say anything............who knows

He has to go.

Sandusky was allowed to hold overnight football camps on the campus for nearly ten years after a graduate assistant (who is a current coach) saw him rape a 10 year old on campus?

Inexcusable.

Poll is flawed. No option for Penn State building a top-of-the-line medical facility and hooking him up on life support for the next 1039 years, then trying to count all of those wins towards his coaching record.

If it is proven true that he knew about the raping of boys, and did nothing, he should start coaching the prison team next year.

I'm waiting for the usual "we are Penn State" comments...

The fact that so many knew he was a pedarest and did nothing is unfathomable. When I read that a janitor witnessed him performing oral sex on  11-13 year old,by his estimation,I just thought "why the fuck did he not beat him to death with a mop?". It was good enough for Jeffrey Dahmer...

Such is the sanctity of college sports amongst some people.

Minor correction, but you don't beat someone to death with a mop handle, you need to sodomize them as well.  It is the rupturing of the colon and internal bleeding that causes death.

I think that the folks calling for Joe's head are acting on emotion and not reason.

Joe didn't molest anyone.

Joe was informed of misbehavior on one occasion, and he reported it immediately.

Could he have done more?  Probably.

Would you?  Are you sure?

How many of you have had a buddy commit suicide or an acquaintance/friend/co-worker/family member accused of sexual abuse?  Nearly everybody has.

In hindsight, you second guess everything.

Could I have done something that would have saved my suicidal cousin's life?

Was so-and-so's behavior at that company picnic creepier than I thought at the time?

It's easy to second guess somebody else's decisions after the fact.

I don't blame Joe for Sandusky's behavior.

ETA - I've read the grand jury report and everybody should be fired immediately.  McQueary should have gone straight to the police.  Paterno should have gone straight to the police.  Curley should have gone straight to the police.  The utter failure of these men is horrifying.  I think the new head coach should bring in a completely new staff, from top to bottom.

this whole thing is fucked.  instead of stopping what he saw and telling the police, mqueary runs away and eventually tells paterno.  i never liked that goofy fucker.  and then paterno goes and tells the AD and never follows up with it.  and curley and that other idiot ignore it.

i think it's too early to tell whether paterno steps down or not and it will suck if this is how he ends his coaching career BUT there's no excuse for not doing everything possible to put a stop to it and i won't have very much sympathy for him.

also, i don't know if what mcqueary told paterno was reported yet so i think that will play a part in his stepping down or not.

well, its like this ......... the witch hunt has only just begun,

everyone that knew about it, and failed to put a immediate stop to it
will become classified in the same light as the perverted chicken hawk
and before all is said & done, this will make the Salem Witch trial/hunt look like small potatoes

I am afraid you may be correct. Joe Pa is old school like that.

The story I got was he reported what he had learned of second hand, to the AD..ya don't go to the cops and jump chain of command over wild assed rumors of unbelieveable shit, in a politically charged environment like that. For fuck sake the rumors and bullshit fly non-stop and there are proceedures and policy concerning such things. On faith, I don't see him actively covering that sort of shit up.

The current bunch of godless fucks making decisions at Penn State would like to get rid of him, and all they need is any little excuse, let alone aomething like this that can be connected to him simply by his continued breathing.

Penn State is Fucked.
And I'm afraid the only positive aspect of the entire damn school, is about to retire to history under a filthy cloud not of his making.
Damn shame. It was time for him to retire, but he rates doing so honorably.

As a Baylor alum, I honestly never thought I'd see something rivaling what went down with our basketball program last decade.
You can't score smack talk points off this.  I feel for the students there and how they're going to have to deal with their school being dragged through the mud.

ETA while I've never been fond of Penn State or Paterno, I must add that the reactions I've been seeing from the Penn State community have done them all sorts of credit.

I'm sorry to have to strike the above.
