How'd you like that swap? What kind of power did it have? Fuel mileage? Would you do it again?

I actually liked the swap a lot.  it was just a straight across swap from a Merkur.  It was putting out about 200 at the wheels and it was enough power to get into trouble with.  Fuel mileage depended on my driving style.  I could get as high as 25 mpg or as low as 13 mpg.  It just depended how stupid I was with the gas pedal.  I'm in the process of doing another 2.3T swap into my '99 Ranger.  The green one I posted.  I'm hoping for around 300-350 at the wheels with more compression, cam, injectors, turbo, and head work than the first one.

Picked up a couple of weeks ago, a left over 2011 EcoBoost got a smoking deal, all I have done since these pics is tint front windows as dark as back windows,
sold a V-10 so the EcoBoost is getting way and I mean way better MPG

was surprised to see the built date on this truck of 10/11 would of thought they would of had the 2011 done by then and all 2012

Awesome. Was the first one from a stick or auto? It's my understanding the A/R on the turbos is different. What was the transmission?

Pardon my ignorance, but what did that engine come out of? A Mercury what?

Thanks! I knew they were in Mustangs, but not Mercuries. A guy on one of the Ranger forums I frequent found one in a junkyard and was supposedly going to install it in his truck.

The first one was from a stick car.  The turbos can be changed rather easily and I had an SVO turbo with the .60/.63 A/R on that engine.  The trans that I used was the Mitsubishi trans that came factory in the truck so I could keep the 4wd.

In the green truck I am keeping the M5OD R1 that was factory in that truck.

A couple pics of the build.

And a SHORT video of its first start.

It'll look a lot meaner without the side steps, i ditched mine but the westin bar steps look a lot better if you want some kind of steps

Ditched 'em.  Here's another craptacular picture.  Now if I could just stop forgetting theres no more step and falling out of the truck I'd be ok.  In the unlikely event anyone gives a shit, its got:  Dynatech longtubes, corsa catback, AFE intake, tuned, electric fans, troyer shift kit, magtec trans pan, upgraded trans cooler with fan, way too much money in the stereo, and an HID retrofit thats sitting next to me because it wont work and I can't figure out why.  I know I'm forgetting a bunch of shit too.  Pretty happy with the way its turned out so far.  Most people that ride in it just think it has an exhaust and nothing else, which was exactly my intention.  Only issue I've had with it is right now I've got to put a output seal on the transfer case.  Getting a procharger if I ever get back to where I used to be financially too.

Yeah after getting under it and seeing the little bit of play in the slip yoke im just going to run it like it is and add a few ounces of fluid to it once a month until it gets worse.

Beautiful rig! About 20 years ago I almost bought a '71, but the 3-speed just wasn't what I was looking for in an off-road vehicle and I'd just finished building my '76 Scout II (well, as much as something like that can be said to be "finished") so I didn't feel like planning another swap. It was a nice rig, though!

Yep. Dodge got that right for sure. Looks better and functions better than anything the ford engineers dreamed up. This method is 100% custom mine, and is the best I have seen on the internet to date. This one looks factory. Others have welded plate in vent window which creates a blind spot. Others have done similar to mine and used a plate in the same location, but they make the plate way to big and end up having to paint and do body work. My plate is little bit less in size than my mirror so everything is covered.

Had a 360 in there and replaced with a 390 with a 4 barrel/new intake.

Everything is manual so it's easy to fix.
