MDTS THREAT RECOGNITION & MANAGEMENT TACTICS
(Interactive Lecture)
Course Description/Objectives:
Most citizen defense training focuses on technical development of motor skills whether
that’s shooting, blade work, or unarmed combative skill sets and simply glosses over
tactics. It is much easier to teach someone how to palm strike than it is to teach them
how to recognize when they will be mugged or assaulted.
The MDTS Threat Recognition & Management Tactics course provides students with the
skills necessary for dealing with violent criminal assault before it happens. Avoidance
when possible is always the best strategy but avoidance is predicated upon ones ability
to recognize potential danger. This course emphasizes realistic and effective
pre-engagement tactics based upon an in depth understanding of how criminals
operate. We must understand the problem, before we can develop solutions.
This is a non-physical 2 hr. class featuring a PowerPoint presentation on criminal assault
and interactive drills used to develop proper pre-engagement tactics. This course is
suitable for men and women of any age or stature.
Course Topics/Modules of Instruction Include:
Understanding Criminal Assault
Contact Plan of Action

MDTS PRACTICAL COMBATIVES WORKSHOP
Course Description/Objectives:
Practical Unarmed Combat is the option used when there are no other superior tactical
advantages (weaponry, evasion and escape, etc.) available to you. In this course a
series of drills and foundational unarmed techniques will be presented. Students will
learn a simple, effective and retainable method of unarmed personal defense. An
emphasis is placed on understanding how criminals assault citizens in the real world and
what to do if a situation occurs when you have no reasonable alternative to engaging the opponent.
Strategies presented enable the citizen to negate criminal assault tactics through
verbal challenge and/or direct action to immediately dominate the situation by
any possible means. This course is suitable for men and women of any age
or stature who are in reasonable physical condition.
Course Topics/Modules of Instruction Include:
