Allright Ladies:
Along the same lines as our annual ARFHUNT and ARF(salmon)FISH extravaganzas, for 2014 we are adding a new outing in the form of a spring fishing trip and campout. We don't want to wait until the fall to have a reason to come together and have a good ole time with good friends. As always, these fiestas are open to all arfcom members. There were some comments on one of last fall's trip threads about some guys who wanted to attend but due to (I guess) the banter and ball-busting leading up to the trip, they felt like they would be intruding/unwelcome/etc... Yes, there is a core group of guys that usually attend but honestly we are friendly bunch (except for Mag162) and we would be more than happy to bust YOUR balls and make fun of the new guys just the same! Seriously, if you want in just post up here and then reserve your campsite QUICKLY. Even though it's January, the sites at Hither Hills State Park are filling up steadily - in fact a couple of sites we wanted were snatched up yesterday. We have 3 sites reserved on the east end of the campground (HO17, HO18 and HO19) so if you are interested in attending try and get a site nearby. Figure to spend about $100 for a 3 night stay ( That's the minimum # of nights BTW) We will be fishing the Viking Fleet (Big-Ass Party Boat) on Friday 5/16. Porgy/Cod/Seabass will be the target species. Saturday will be the fall-back plan if the weather does not cooperate with us the day before. The boat has rental gear/tackle available. Bait is included in your fare. I'll post up more on gear and tackle later on. Its too early to reserve a spot on the boat but I will be checking the boat's website regularly to see when they will open up for reservations and I'll let you guys know on this thread. For the fishing, figure $100-$125 for the fare ( usually its a 5AM - 3PM trip ) Rod rental on the boat in the galley. They are usually $5 and come with the first set up of rig The preliminary schedule is as follows: Thursday 5/15: Arrive mid-day and set up camp. (check-in is at 3 but if your site is clear they will likely let you go). Opening Ceremonies @ 7PM followed by dining and dancing into the wee hours of the AM. Friday: Fish all day then back to camp and clean up. Dinner (perhaps a BBQ or go into town for dinner at one of Montauk's restaurants) Saturday (assuming we fished the Viking Friday): Chill out and/or Fish the surf, fish the freshwater lake, bike ride, hike, shop the many boutiques , fly a kite, meditate, make fun of EdSr, etc, etc...... Saturday Night: Gigantic Colossal Fish Fry Dinner followed by a selection of fruit plates expertly prepared by Ciraxis Sunday: Break camp, pack up, hugs, tears, laughter, sing several rounds of kumbaya then GTFO. Here are the websites for both the campground and the Viking Fleet. If you want to attend, you'll need to reserve a site your self or team up with a bud to split the cost of a site. Hither Hills SP: http://www.nysparks.com/parks/122/ Viking Fleet: http://www.vikingfleet.com/ So that's it for now - oh and remember, if you need help to pitch your tent or fulfill creepy sexual desires we have a professional staff on site to assist you... LIST as of 1/10/2014 (to be updated periodically) GOING: EdB, & dad and -maybe- son (sharing HO19 with mag162) EdSr (HO17) had some altercation with Ciraxis and now left all alone on site HO17 Ciraxis and wife ( HO18 ) Is no longer hosting EdSr due to irreconcilable differences and now willing to split his site with another attendee Jack_Lawman (UNDISCLOSED LOCATION-in witness protection program-will share site with goodorbit) KNIGHTENFORCER and crew (IO14) Not going fishing. Will join us on Friday evening Mag162 and 2 sons (Sharing HO19 with EdB and half of NJ) Pault (HO14) Helldog40 (HO15) Goodorbit & Wife ( sharing secret squirrel campsite with Jack_Lawman's ) COMING BY THE CAMP for a BEER Zoomer302 bill3rail Enlightenme556 ON THE SIDELINES cas (bitcher) PanicBuyer (not-bitcher) |

My camping reservation is made. My HO's # is 17!
I'm in.............and in on 1! |

Wow… you'd never guess that was a NYS website. Clear as mud.
...and then there's the fresh air fee, the sunrise fee, the sun set fee and the fee fee. (that's the processing fee for collecting the money from the other fees) |
|

I'm in
site H018 booked. So that means we have H017 - H019, up to 6 people per site and two tents max. So if anyone wants to split the site with me let me know, since Edsr bailed on me and got his own site This will be awesome! |

How's the drive there coming from Rochester NY? I've never been in the city less through it. I've always avoided it like the plague...mainly because it is the epicenter of the plague. |

Will try to stop by, because I have limited days to take off from work.
Not into trailer or tent camping, we do cabin camping every June. Maybe I'll pick up a tow behind trailer by then...doubt it though! Bill |
|
Before anyone else buys a campsite you guys should see if anyone already with one wants to share it with you.
I believe the limit per site is max 6 people and up to two tents |

Ed we will most likely leave the syracuse area by around 8-9am.
We have to drop the kid off at daycare or parents house before we leave, but we can meet up on the road or in syracuse, thats if you still want to follow each other down. I know its retarded to plan for these things so far out but what the hell, its friday and all I can think about is going fishing |
