Clayton, what's your feral hog count for the year? Furthest shot? Nearest shot? Most kills from one sounder?

View Quote The hogs numbers have been down the last couple of years for whatever reason so I'm not killing near what I use to. My hog hunting thread will have more info than I can remember right now, the last two pages specifically. I will say my new area has quite a few hogs of all sizes and colors, just haven't shot any yet. |

Anybody within a couple hours of DFW want to take a forum memeber hunting please PM me.
Id like to hunt some hogs or deer this year but have nowhere to go. |

I asked around and that's what people said about the meat trend. About five miles from the gate is an abandoned emu farm. |

Why is the lid on your feeder all bent up?

I guess that's what I get for trying to answer real quick before work. I probably only killed a dozen or so this year. Heavy spring rains, extreme summer heat and lack of time has kept me at home more. Furthest shots only a touch over 100yd. Closet shots maybe 25yds. I killed a group of three, one neck shot each at about 100yds. |

Making a trip in with the old man this weekend to finish fixing up the camp and run a box through all the deer rifles. Best time of the year is upon us, boys.

Unfortunately our property out in Taylor County is not too condusive to hunting. And I definitely don't have the scratch for a deer lease. Maybe someday. My Mk12 needs some blood

We have about 275 acres in east Texas that my immediate family and myself hunt on, though I'm the only one who bow hunts, so I get an early crack at it so to speak.
So far this year I've seen a shit load of squirrels, a shit ton of crows, and a few woodpeckers. The last trip out I had 3 doe within 70 yards, but they wouldn't come any closer. I'm changing my game plan a bit, and will set up a ground blind or two to get closer to travel paths, as all of our stands are set up with rifles in mind. I still haven't gotten shit on my game cams, but I suspect that is from my brothers piss poor placements. There are plenty of tracks in front of the cams, but they are just too far away to trigger the shutter. I WILL get some meat in the freezer, come hell or high water. |

Anyone have any luck this weekend?
I bow hunted friday afternoon and Saturday morning and came up empty. Several doe fed 100 yards away both hunts, but wouldnt come any closer. The rain really screwed up my weekend, but we needed it badly. |
|
Had to cancel this weekend in getting the place ready, the roads into the place would have been soup. Don't have much time so I'll probably have to go up in the middle of the week. The land owner says it's the usual whitetail numbers, not one sign of hogs at all, which is odd. Some turkey and Axis does. (North of Rocksprings)
We're down four hunters out of eight this year, so it's going to be pretty quiet on the lease. One of our NG guys is on an overseas tour so him and his son will be missing, The other two have new babies at home. |
|
Totally jealous. My game cam from wgi takes horrible pics and you pretty much have to bump into it to get it to go off. Would love to find a place to try to shoot a pig or two and someone to show me the ropes. Only time I got to go we saw nothing but deer out of season and no pigs.
I dont have much room to shoot unless I have to but if I get a bead on the coyote that got my favorite cat hes a goner. And we saw a bobcat in the front yard at 5 pm one day. He's on the list too but I dont have high hopes. |
