This is the thread to share photos and stories for the 2015-16 hunting seasons. Feel free to discuss all species and types of hunting. Good luck to all and I look forward to seeing and hearing about some success stories.

I'll start with a potential. A decent young 10pt that seems pretty dominant.

Some free range Audad on my new spot.

Clayton, what's your feral hog count for the year? Furthest shot? Nearest shot? Most kills from one sounder?

The hogs numbers have been down the last couple of years for whatever reason so I'm not killing near what I use to. My hog hunting thread will have more info than I can remember right now, the last two pages specifically.

I will say my new area has quite a few hogs of all sizes and colors, just haven't shot any yet.

It's all low fence for miles around here. We see various animals from time to time.

That's a Emu, shoot it and eat it. They are supposedly mean. Were going to be the next big meat trend until the bubble popped and people turned them loose.

Yes I know it's an emu, lol. I asked around and that's what people said about the meat trend. About five miles from the gate is an abandoned emu farm.

I guess that's what I get for trying to answer real quick before work.
I probably only killed a dozen or so this year. Heavy spring rains, extreme summer heat and lack of time has kept me at home more.
Furthest shots only a touch over 100yd.
Closet shots maybe 25yds.
I killed a group of three, one neck shot each at about 100yds.

Double tap of m855 at 20 yards or so. Bitch was sporadic on times so I just made a point of staying up one night and going out and checking every 30 minutes or so. 10pm rolls around and I sneak up on her using my nods. She's laying down eating the corn. I have a few pictures of her eating and taking a nap right in front of my camera. Anyway, double tap and a third in the noggin to seal the deal. Come inside all amped and I find my wife still passed out in bed like nothing happened. I shot this pig about 60 yards from the house with a 10.5" sbr. At first I was like how in the world did you not hear that. Then it hit me, oh yea....new silencerco omega. Money well spent. " />

We have about 275 acres in east Texas that my immediate family and myself hunt on, though I'm the only one who bow hunts, so I get an early crack at it so to speak.

So far this year I've seen a shit load of squirrels, a shit ton of crows, and a few woodpeckers. The last trip out I had 3 doe within 70 yards, but they wouldn't come any closer. I'm changing my game plan a bit, and will set up a ground blind or two to get closer to travel paths, as all of our stands are set up with rifles in mind.

I still haven't gotten shit on my game cams, but I suspect that is from my brothers piss poor placements. There are plenty of tracks in front of the cams, but they are just too far away to trigger the shutter. I WILL get some meat in the freezer, come hell or high water.

Have you tried corning the area in front of the cams? 10-12' max distance is what my cams are triggered by.

Yep, single neck shot. She dropped immediately but she wasn't dead when we drove up to her. I put one more in her noggin right after the pic was taken.

Had to cancel this weekend in getting the place ready, the roads into the place would have been soup.   Don't have much time so I'll probably have to go up in the middle of the week.   The land owner says it's the usual  whitetail numbers, not one sign of hogs  at all, which is odd. Some turkey and Axis does.  (North of Rocksprings)

We're down four hunters out of eight this year, so it's going to be pretty quiet on the lease.  One of our NG guys  is on an overseas tour so him and his son will be missing,  The other two  have new babies at home.

Totally jealous. My game cam from wgi takes horrible pics and you pretty much have to bump into it to get it to go off. Would love to find a place to try to shoot a pig or two and someone to show me the ropes. Only time I got to go we saw nothing but deer out of season and no pigs.

I dont have much room to shoot unless I have to but if I get a bead on the coyote that got my favorite cat hes a goner.  And we saw a bobcat in the front yard at 5 pm one day. He's on the list too but I dont have high hopes.
