Y’all know the drill

The Cheesecake tradition got it’s start as a “what Arfcomer do you want to have a beer with?” thread in GD back in the summer of 2018. It began as a BBQ/camp/shoot and went so well we made it a Bi-annual event. Sadly no more shooting for the time being but we have a blast.

If you want to know what is Cheesecake come join in the thread and if you want to know how the hell it got that name, come to Cheesecake

This BBQ happens twice a year at my little ranch about an hour east of Round Rock, every Spring and Fall, ALL Arfcomers are welcome, not just Texans. We have members who travel from many states now.

I converted half our hay barn into a “Party Barn”. At the first one I was scrambling to get a pit and smoker and a little firepit in the shade for us. We literally ran a spool of Romex over the night of the first one so we could plug in a few cheap lights. I try to make improvements before each one to make us more comfortable. Now there’s tons of lights and decorations, a fridge, all my cooking implements(which are many) we can do Hot Dogs to Whole Hogs, there’s a TV with Wi-Fi for YouTube music, tons of chairs and tables. There is the “No House Outhouse” TP and wipes provided.

Everyone is welcome to camp in whatever style they choose. Some hang a hammock in the barn or close by trees, air mattress and sleeping bag, tent anywhere on the property you want, drag a camper out if you want, some sleep in their vehicles or have pop up camping in their truck beds to even a BIGASSED pusher bus and of course Chas8008’s “Pleasure Palace”

Friday night is always steak night, bring a steak of your choice and I provide baked potato, salad and all the accoutrements.
We make tacos Saturday morning with bacon, eggs tortillas and whatever else everyone chips in on. Also goes for Sunday morning tacos. I provide a coffee pot and a Keurig with pods, cups and sugar and creamer.

Saturday lunch and dinner gets debated about in the thread the closer we get to the date. Sometimes I go wild and buy everything, sometimes other members chip in on something as big as a whole hog. I encourage folks to bring their family favorite and share with the group. Sometimes we even have a competition like Cheesecake-Con-Carne was a big Chili competition. Everyone is welcome to bring and cook anything they like, we have smokers, pits, grills, griddles, the famous Forge and electricity if you need to plug in a Crock Pot or Easy Bake oven.

Saturday morning folks like to bring gun “stuff” and other stuff for sale or trade.

THIS IS NOT A SHOOT, THERE WILL BE NO SHOOTING DO NOT EVEN ASK, SHOW AND TELL IS FINE BUT ALL FIREARMS WILL BE LOCKED UP AS SOON AS ANY DRINKING STARTS PLEASE RESPECT THIS

If you are a NEWB and you say IN and you get my address and DONT show you are perma banned, I’m sick of it

Yup, Lug is a good egg in the long run.
But who really likes long runny eggs?

That’s a good looking dog. For those of us that don’t know anything about hunting with dogs, what does that award mean?

HRC = Hunting Retriever Club.

There are five ability-based categories that the dogs may enter in the HRC Tests: Started, Seasoned, Finished, Grand and Upland. Unlike field trials, these are not competitive 1st, 2nd and 3rd place events, but tests where all dogs are judged pass/fail against a "Hunting Standard"

Basically the dog is placed in a simulated hunting situation, where a dead duck or multiple ducks are thrown by a machine, and a "Hunter" fires a shotgun blank or multiple birds and blanks. The dog must then, not retrieve until told to do so, he must retrieve the duck or ducks in the correct order. They must be able to find a duck or ducks that were hidden and the dog did not see them fall. The dogs must take the route to the ducks and back according to the test and not veer away, become distracted etc. The must negotiate obstacles, cross water and land in a direct route to the duck. Here is a video of a finished test, which Dan will do next. When he completes this testing he will be considered an HRC Champion.

Man I’m trying to think of someone out your way but I can’t.
Closest I can think of is Charliedontsurf if he’s in Burnet at the time but that’s only during deers seasonings.

If you need to hook a ride just holler out, there’s always someone coming from everywhere

Closest towns are Brady, Llano, Fredericksburg. I could go to Burnet if I need to.

I'm not, just addressing a statement you made here, that had no truth in it.

Sure, I hate the new EE, but that is far from what has pushed my decision to leave the site.

What happened behind the scenes was fucked up, and wouldn't resonate well with anyone who has an ounce of integrity.

I'm not going to air it out publicly, but there are a few who know what happened.

No need to stick around this forum any longer.
