NJ supreme court rules it is legal to answer the door with a weapon in your hand if the weapon is legal to possess in your home.

The right to possess a weapon in one’s own home for self-defense would be of little effect if one were required to keep the weapon out-of-hand, picking it up only “spontaneously.”

Small win but potentially very helpful for a challenge if NJ ever tries to implement "safe storage" laws for firearms

Spontaneous right to self defense is still a requirement out of the home.

This ruling will change very little.

I'm glad we didn't lose the right to self defense in the home though.

Will help to make a better argument when they try and confiscate all of our AR-15s

New York - SAFE Act
Connecticut - post-Sandy Hook laws passed
Massachusetts - AG unilaterally declares AR-15's illegal
California - Redefined assault weapon to make bullet button-equipped AR's illegal

It's not just us...
