In a 2013 lawsuit brought by ANJRPC and its Executive Director Scott Bach, the New Hampshire Supreme Court today unanimously invalidated an administrative regulation preventing non-residents from qualifying for a New Hampshire carry license unless they have a carry permit from their home state. The regulation unfairly discriminated against residents of states like New Jersey, which make it difficult or impossible to obtain a home state permit. Cool. we'll be able to carry again in PA... until their AG determines that NH's laws are no longer similar to PA, and invalidates their reciprocity agreement. But then again, she's got so many other problems she's dealing with now, perhaps this won't be too high on her list of to-do's before she's disbarred, fired, and convicted (one can hope, can't one?)
Awaiting instructions from ANJRPC on how to apply. |

I believe I had a NH permit a while ago.
Nice people to deal with. It was taking a while, so I called. They told me they were waiting on NJSP to send the requested info. I told them honoring the peoples rights is not top priority for them, and it may never get there. I had plans on a bike run to Laconia and pretty much needed it by then. They said they'd wait a few more days for NJSP. A week later it was in my mailbox. Good people. At the time it was something like $25 for 4 -5 years. I'm pretty sure that changed. |

$100 for 4 years for non-residents

Technically FOPA should protect a NJ resident taking a handgun to PA for purposes of carry, as long as it's transported accordingly:
Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle:
Provided That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console. View Quote |

Technically yes. Technically that dude from Utah shouldn't have spent a week in Essex county correctional. Good luck to anyone that gets pulled over with a gun in their car in nj. FOPA, LOL. |

How many times has your trunk gotten searched when you got pulled over. I am going to guess zero. FOPA absolutely protects you just don't have hollowpoints with you as they have been known to kill people without even being fired from a gun...they are that evil.
This will probably be a short lived victory...as mentioned before the PA AG will probably no longer accept NH permits when she gets wind of this. |

Any update on this? I checked the NH application for non-res and it still requires a carry permit from the home state for consideration.

They are accepting applications on the old form. I mailed my application yesterday.

Out of curiosity, what's stopping the PA AG from disqualifying NH permits as well? Seems like a good way to throw out $100.

Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane has hired former Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce Castor to fill a newly created executive position in her office. Ms. Kane, whose law license has been suspended as she awaits trial on criminal charges, said Tuesday that she was hiring Mr. Castor as her solicitor general to help with executive functions. He will be paid an annual salary of $150,000. In a news release, Ms. Kane was vague about his duties, saying only that his role would be “to strengthen and support the leadership of the executive office and further the initiatives of the attorney general on behalf of the people of Pennsylvania.” |

Permit arrived today. View Quote Awesome. And now that Kane has resigned as PA AG, hopefully there won't be a big push to re-do the NH reciprocity agreement. ETA: Did you have to include something explaining that NJ won't issue a carry permit, or do they just now know to waive the in-state requirement for NJ? Did you include a copy of your FID card? |

I have had Florida and Virginia permits since 2007. I carried regularly in Pennsylvania and Delaware, until Kane canceled reciprocity. So this permit is more of a restoration than anything else. Yes, it gets used regularly.

You can get a citation if a game warden catches you with more than the allowed 3 rounds in a rifle, it's stupid. At least PA allows rifles and handguns at its public ranges unlike NJ. |
