Only had a CCW for 1 week and had no clue it wasn't valid in NJ. |

At least she has the right attorney for the job.
Glad the Atlantic County prosecutor is keeping you guys safe from those fucking soccer moms. |
|
I feel safer already.
This will be an interesting case to keep an eye on. The law being the law I'd say she is screwed!! The Atlantic County Prosecutor doesn't have much desecration in a case like this I would think. He will have to follow the letter of the law and prosecute. If he doesn't he will be accused of selective enforcement of the law. Not even Nappen will be able to get her out of this IMHO. |
|
While I feel bad for this woman, it is her responsibility to make herself aware of the laws of the state(s) where she is carrying.
She did everything right for PA but ended up completely wrong when crossing over into NJ, the first communist state in the union. |

It's an outrage that the US constitution doesn't apply to NJ (well actually, it doesn't apply anywhere anymore) and that you essentially have to become an attorney on the laws of all 50 states to exercise your rights. Imagine if you had to look up the traffic laws of a state before you drove there.
I'm reluctant mention this and apologize to anyone I offend. What impressed me was how sympathetic the article and commentary on my9nj was to this woman. They didn't ever call her a "gunman" If it had been me, a fat bald old Caucasian "gunman" wearing cammo, I think the tone of the article would have been vastly different. However, she does have an infinitesimally small hope; it's called jury nullification. The jury can choose to ignore immoral laws and refuse to convict her. That's what I would do if I was on the jury. |
|
Ouch, I hope she likes prison.
NJers already throwing her under the bus. |

Nope, not harsh at all. If I did the same, I would label myself an idiot. I highly doubt she was " ill informed ". In a CCW Class around here, instructors drill the protocols in our heads. She failed to follow through or she just was not paying attention in class. I make no apologies, each and everyone of us has to be on top of the game, especially in New Jersey. |

I travel out of nj several times a month and always carry. ....I always double check the states I will be traveling in to be sure that laws have not changed....
Even if she didn't double check...... Don't u watch the news? Duh Yea..... idiot |

Now the girl in this case was a resident in PA, and she blew it just as quickly as she received her credentials We can still open carry in PA. By the way, there is no class to take in PA. You go to your local sheriff's office with your PA drivers license fill out the form and come out with your LTCF. It can take as little as 15 min. |
|
I don't like people knowing I'm carrying. .....I have a new Hampshire permit as well and that is still good in pa but nh just changed their laws too. They are not going to renew unless u have a ccw from your home state. ....3 more yrs and I guess I'm beat again. ....if I even last that long here

I know the law is the law, but in this case the prosecutor is going to have to pull some serious tricks to constitute mens rea on the part of the woman. Seriously, the whole reason she even got into this mess was a good faith admission of carrying a firearm. If the jury convicts I'll shit two bricks sideways.

Oh ye of little faith, Lion_Dog.
Basically, my point is that the jury doesn't have to bend over to the law. They can effect positive change with their decision. To me, at least, a crime should only be a crime when there's a victim and a guilty conscience. This case has neither. Of course, they could just say "fuck it" and throw her in the pen anyway, because some people are boot lickers. |

It won't go to trial. In this county we make a deal, it is a joke. The only thing close to justice is to be able to bail out. Then you hire a lawyer and negotiate. If you are connected to he county Republican party, all the better.

Lol, everyone gets a deal here. That is why they have a 95% conviction rate. me served is a common sentence. Big mistake is to ask for a Public Defender... you spend time in jail. If you are special, you get a better sentence. I have 25 years in the system

If we're held to a higher standard, then maybe they should trust me with the ability to carry a firearm for self defense. But... this is NJ.

Perfect time to introduce "Shaneen's Law"
-remove "justifiable need" requirement -allow non-residents to apply for CCW -add exemption for CCW holders to hollow point regulations -make carrying without a permit a disorderly persons offense if you are not a prohibited person and are otherwise eligible to obtain a permit |

You know, if it wasn't all about the "feel good" I'd say we can hope, but as a pragmatist and NOT being "Jack of Arc" - I say nuke this place from orbit THRWICE (made up word of 2x3=6), to be SURE
... it IS the only way. I feel "NJ has been rotted to the core and all about the origins which makes it so genetically disposed to NOT be apart of the USA since its inception.. look at its history and ideas not written surrounding the writing of this State's constitution. I will be soooooo f*cking happy to pay my last taxes when it time for me to leave this joke of a state, preferably standing, not carried by huckleberries. I do love my home and friends here, deeply, and I will miss them, but I WILL DIE a FREE MAN because there can be no chains to break ones spirit and crush one's heart - a love of this Country, its FF and designers. NATIONWIDE EFFORT TO SAVE SHANEEN ALLEN The New Jersey Second Amendment Society (NJ2AS) is launching a Nationwide effort to save Ms. Allen from a minimum 5-year prison sentence - NOT for committing a crime with a gun, but merely for crossing the border from Pennsylvania into New Jersey with her legally owned gun. As far as jury nullification goes. I know jurors for court in Trenton meet in a parking lot and are bussed to the court. It would be easy to hand out fliers if they did the same thing at this court.

This is from one of my boards I frequent. I agree with the guy. while the nj laws suck...the fact of the matter is she didn't stumble across the border by accident...she made a conscious decision to cross a river bridge knowing she was entering nj......and in doing so they know the ramifications if caught...so own it...she was pulled in atlantic county...no doubt headed to the cesspool known as atlantic city at 0100-0200hrs.....she was more than likely not wearing the scrubs and stethoscope and juggling her kids as in all the shown media coverage...her Facebook had a slew of pictures of her posing with her pistol and "gangsta" poses and some "interesting" outfits....which have since been removed....im inclined to think she knew it was not legal...but chose to disregard the law ..when pulled..felt if she told she was carrying and played dumb the officer would let her go (in nj?lol)....which he didn't....so she is running with story...now with accounts set up to accept donations etc.... i respect everyones right to the personal choice to ignore/disregard unjust/unconstitutional laws if they wish.... but don't pretend to be a poor victim and beg for money and special consideration....she wasn't so concerned about her kids when she was heading to ac in the wee hours of the morning to do..?........heres the only one i could quickly find...its mild compared to the rest that were visible right after she got arrested View Quote " /> |
