Well, I talked to the fellow this morning and he said he is down there every Saturday and anytime would be fine.
Let's get a consensus on a date and I will let him know and get directions, etc. We will be able to shoot out to about 500 yds. Oh, this is in Walton County. |
Larry,
Sounds like fun!! How about some time in September when it will be cooler? Accountant |
That's fine, it is just a matter of all here agreeing on a date.
I would love to go out there. I just need a good advanced notice.
I changed the title, since it seems no one is interested. Oh well.
I was just waiting to see when the other guys wanted to go, I am a follower.

Any time before late October or After mid January would be good for me. Sorry Can't interupt deer season.
DEET????????????????? |
You know skeeter killer |
Sounds like I shoulda posted that one. Except it woulda been DUCK SEASON! |
Count me in if they are. I'll make time and bring a few friends with fast toys as well. TD |
I'd certainly be interested! 500yds would be a hoot, we'd need a car to check our targets!
I'd be in for anytime, just not in October. I'm going to Germany and Amsterdam then the ol family reunion after that in Enterprise AL. Tannerite ok? |
I would be interested, and can probably make it on a Saturday or Sunday as long as I have a couple of weeks notice.
hey give us a good date early and I'll be there ready to shoot, just tell me where we are going to shoot.
Well, everyone agree on a date, say 3 or 4 weeks advance, and I will let him know.
I will check on MGs and tannerite. It's in Walton County. |
August 28th?
The weekend after that is Labor Day weekend so the week before may be better for some. After that September 11th would be the next available weekend. I'm up for either one although I'd prefer Sept. 11th. since it may be cooler then. |
Dang, I was hoping he misspelled TEET. |
I think we should go Sept 11 due to the significance of that date. |
Get on US 78 or GA 316 and head west. It borders on Barrow. |
From Atlanta,78 EAST will take you into Monroe, which is in Walton Co.
500 yd targets. Sounds good. Come up with a date, and I'll see if I can make it
I spoke with the guy this evening. September 11 is a good date for him and I am going this Saturday to recon the area. I will give more details.
He said no to the MGs and tannerite. I tried to change his mind, but he feels that they would do too much damage to the property. Before people start bashing the guy, he is a great guy and I think he is being more than generous inviting us to shoot on his property. |
sounds good to me. Where is it exactly. Map? what will the hours be? LUNCH?
I will post directions later. I am going out there this weekend. Hours are up to you guys, he is there all day, sunrise to sunset, building a house. Lunch, again is up to you guys. I will see what is in the area. Maybe we can picnic or something like that. |
Sept 11 sounds good to me. Thanks for all your efforts, LarryG.
Larry, thanks for hooking this up.
if its ok with you i'd like in on this. im dying to try out my PSS. |
Well, this is way the hell EAST of Atlanta. |
Hell, I'm game. If its too far out of the way to go out to eat, how about a good ole barbecue while we are there. All we would have to do is for everyone to bring two things: one edible and one supply, ie some steak and napkins, or salad and plates, or any combination thereof. Between those of us going, we should be able to scrounge up enough grills, coolers, utensils, steaks, potatos, and fixin's to feed all of us as well as the land owner...just as a token of our appreciation
Sounds like a plan. Okay, who can bring what? |
Well that depends on what all we want to eat. Do we want to go the burgers and hot dogs route with fries or go steaks and potatos? If we can come up with a semi-coherent menu, then it'll be easier to plan. Personally, I vote steak and potatos.
Lets get a roll call for 9/11/04 |
Would love to go but can not make this one/date. I have other responsibilities in NYC, DC/VA from 10-12. Have a great time though!!! Wolf |

Anyone have a portable grill??
LarryG, thanks for setting this up. Just so I understand, we'll be shooting down a road on this guy's property (i.e. he owns it) towards the entrance of the property? It also appears there is no backstop. Is this correct? |
What he said.............. |
Yes, it is his property. We checked it out and any misses are going to clear anything and will hit the forest in the background. Besides, anyone who would miss that high at that distance needs glasses for sure. If you want to meet me one day, we can look it over. |
That might not hurt. I just want to make sure if anything is off target that we're not at risk of hitting something a mile or so down the road. It would suck for us all to get charged for one or two errant shots. It would suck BADLY for someone down the road to get hurt.
I'd feel better if we had some kind of backstop. But, it might be okay the way you are describing it. This sure will be fun. |
Yeah, I would feel better if there is a big backstop also. Its not so much that I don't trust your judgement about the forest behind, its just that I've been in this situation before and don't really want to repeat it. A big backstop or some sort of berm would be good.
Oh, and I got a portable charcoal grill. It'll only handle around 6 steaks though, so someone else is going to have to bring one. |
I say we hire some homeless street bums to be the backstop.
$5 for every bullet they catch. It's time we gave back to the community. |
If this is a place we could use from time to time, I would have no problem spending some time clearing out a real range on the land. Might even be able to get a Bobcat for a weekend.
