Man those Scandinavians eat like KINGS. The German stuff was not bad either.

I worked in the building where the Fin army had the top 3 floors. To get to the mess you had to walk by my door. The next door was the mess. I had more Fish and Rein Deer meals than I can count.

The Swedes, Fins, Danes, Norwegians all get there food and supples from Danish Camp Supply.
Kind of like what Halliburton/KBR does for the US.  Except with more saunas

Thanks for sharing the pictures.  Your post about the Scandinavians eating like kings reminds me of being in Norway when were kids (my mother is Norwegian).  We always ate good.  My Uncle Chris used to make this Reindeer stew that was to die for.  Those were the days!  I digress...

Keep posting the pictures.  Post as many as you want.  This is one of the only threads I have subscribed to because it's a little different.

Thanks,

Thanks for posting the pics. This is the best thread I've seen here in weeks!

Are the bad guys there really using World War II MP40 machine pistols? And what's the deal on the M1 Thompson submachine guns?

Awesome photos. Keep posting them!
Link Posted: 11/6/2007 6:38:47 PM EDT
[#32]
Using MP-40's naw not really day to day. The Specter was in use.
Everybody and his dog has AK's and ammo is way more than plentiful so that is the day in day out go to gun

Lots of "TT" pistols, Torkravs Lots of Zastava firearms, Man those guys make goo guns.

The Thompsons were given to the Partizans and the Chetnicks during the war. They stored a lot. I shot up all my "emergency" .45 ammo before I left. It was Winchester WCC 43 steel case. It all fired.

The Skorpians were from Serb armor crews. Standard issue.
TONS of Chinese Type 56's and other weapons. These came from the Albanians.
The Serbs were in bed with the Russians from way back. I suppose that is why the Albanians were supplied by the Chinese. Never could figure that as the Russians would sell to anyone. My uneducated guess is that the Chinese were cheaper.
The Chinese and the Serbs go back a long way and are having good relations now.  The Albanians did not seem to hold that against them.  International Politics/business, who can figure it out?

For those of you not members I think the majority would say that the Bonus photo alone was worth the $24

I was told by staff that that photo was as close to the line as damn is to swearing.
Unfortunately IF I had more posting them would get the BOTD thread and me gone.

I MAY have some, well lets say unusual, wedding photos that we received. We could verify they were taken in Belgrade by the signage and Buildings. But WHY they were taken???
OH well Back to the G rated Stuff

Just a comment or two here.

There was a 60 minutes report while I was there abut this Albanian in the US who was buying Barrett .50's and sending them to Kosovo.

Florin Krasniqi and his associates acquired dozens of the rifles in the late '90s for use in the Kosovo War. They found that they afforded a psychological advantage, once the Serbs and the international press discovered that the Kosovo Liberation Army forces were armed with Barretts.

I understand it was quite a brouhaha here for a while and calls for tougher restrictions and what not.
Bull...I never even heard of one in country, except for one in the war museum in Belgrade Serbia, and this famous photo HERE

Where you can clearly see KFOR on the Humvee. This was an American weapon.

Had one been taken in the hundreds of village and house searches I would have had my hands on it or at least heard about it.
At one time my job was involved with all the confiscated weapons that were turned in to the capital, and that should have been all of them eventualy  As you can see from the above photos, barretts....None. Zero.

Also from time to time a video pops up about a cell phone that was converted to fire .22 LR  It was a pro piece. you had to code in the right number then keep pushing the right button and it would fire. I don't recall just now weather it was 4 or 6 times. I think you can find the video on youtube.
I was around when this was found. it was a BIG DEAL. no one had ever seen one. this was not some zip gun that was made to look like a lighter and fires one or two times. (as an UNMIK officer was caught with in an American airport) This was quality work.
And again...We never found another. Some thought it was a one time project for some hit. My guess was it was an abandon or captured piece of communist special police gear.
There was a lot of money and skill that went into making that thing.
