I posted this in GD, but here's a copy paste of the thread:

http://m.newstalk1130.com/onair/common-sense-central-37717/mps-spending-471073-on-black-lives-14706589/

My 8 year old daughter goes to an MPS school. (Not by my choice)
Milwaukee is a sanctuary city, and there are also "refugees" at her school now.

Some of you more politically astute members will remember Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett running against Wisconsin governor Scott Walker both in the general elections in 2010 and the recall elections.

Milwaukee has also had a few mayors that actually belonged to the Socialist Party and is, per capita, one of the most segregated and violent cities in the U.S.

Doubling down on fail and waste of taxpayer money.  More than just waste.  An outrage.

but I thought MPS was broke and needed more money from the state.

A strapped for cash public school is funding those asshats?

Any public school that has money for major donations to shithead organizations needs a massive fucking audit.

It's insulting that they're burning tax money on political garbage, and interesting where they're getting the money from considering any public school I've been to is strapped for cash.

Sounds like they have too much money. A budget cut would fix that.

Read the article.  Zero dollars actually go to the Activist organization which is named "Black Lives Matter"...

As far as I'm concerned...the public school system is 'irrefixably' broken.

Correct - They aren't actually giving money to the "Black Lives Matter" organization.

However - They are allocating money "in the name of" Black Lives Matter - but paying groups that "espouse the values" of Black Lives Matter.

Still wasteful spending, none-the-less.

$471,073 is budgeted to support the “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative by collaborating with branches of government, local businesses and community organizations to increase the number of males of color who are succeeding academically and socially. Efforts include ensuring that culturally responsive teaching practices are in place at all schools, enhancing the district vision for student participation in a wide range of after-school activities and supporting trauma-informed care.
Tagliavia insisted that "no funding is going to a Black Lives Matter Organization," saying that "the name speaks to some of the issues raised by the movement, specifically racial disparities in education."

Black Lives Matter™ will probably sue for and get money that is allocated to them. Same thing would probably happen with money allocated to the "national rifle association".

It is cheaper to take care of business while they are in High School than to do so through the prison system after graduation.  Over 1/3 of black males drop out before graduation.

So in other words they know better than to give money directly to BLM, but wish they could, and so are giving it to the closest cause they can get away with politically (while still voicing their desire to fund BLM)

This is the biggest load of bullshit I've ever seen. If money was alloted to the NRA to teach kids proper gun safety people would freak out
