Planning a somewhat spontaneous trip to the Durango/Silverton area in late July.

Anyone here know of trusted horse trail guides?

I'm also looking for things to do other than the train ride and gold mines.

Tons of Jeep trails in the area, hiking, etc. No clue about horse guides. If I remember, I'll ask a friend hat trains horses in Montrose to see if he knows of any.

There is a great hike along Vallecito Creek to the east of Durango.  One of the most beautiful hikes I've ever been on in CO.  On foot or on horseback.

I haven't used these guys but it looks like they will take you up Vallecito Creek and can drop you off for an overnight trip, or bring you back the same day.  Good luck
