We watched it roll in from lake pleasant. We rolled out just as the wind started up. Lightning was spectacular! The rain was so heavy on the 74 coming home visibility was very low.

Amazing lighting show with rain and wind in north Mesa. Lost power for an hour. It's still rumbling out there...

We got a smidge.  I could see with every lightning strike the heavy bands of rain all around us.  Barely got enough here to rinse the dust off....

I miss living in AJ/Gold Canyon. The storms there are always million times better than any other location in the valley I think.

Plus its quiet in the outskirts of AJ compared to living in Phx.

I'll post some pics in a bit but I'm helping my parents clean up.  They got destroyed. Around 40th st and greenway.  Shredded  a big wood play set folded in the garage door stripped the leaves off of trees destroyed my dad's canopies ripped off roof tiles.  We've found 14 dead birds in his yard so far.  Paint blown/chipped off the house.  Been without power since 10 last night.

Holy crap! That looks like florida after a hurricane. I wonder if there was a micro-burst in that area due to extent of the damage in that pocket.

We got it huge last night on north end of ironwood.  I have a 20+ ft saguaro growing on the edge of my property and if it goes will damage some of my neighbors out building.  I'm thinking about an ounce of prevention vs a pound of cure but not sure about falling a cactus that big, its got 6 arms that are at least 4" long

Cutting it down is illegal.

You can however sell it, and if it's a nice one one of the nurseries will pay you a pretty penny for it and remove it for you as well.

Its too big to move so no one will by it.  Am I supposed to just let it fall?

From what I remember what went on with a former boss, yes. He had a huge one in his backyard, it wasn't doing well and wanted to cut it down. Did some research and found out he couldn't touch it.... Ultimately a nursery/company bought it from him for some huge money.

Native Plant Procedures
The procedures for obtaining a permit for the removal and transportation of protected native plants include:

Native Plants (602)542-6408

I've read online that they maintain a list of companies that are permitted to move native plants, (like saguaros). I've seen estimates that once upon a time they were selling for $70/foot. (Old data, I'm sure). It's worth asking now, before it becomes a bigger problem. Good Luck!

I've seen some HUGE saguaros moved as they're developing my neighborhood.  I'd be surprised if there's a "too big to move".

Beings it's so hot around here. Just wondering if we could start a drive by photography tradition in AZ HTF.  But you have to include the rear view mirror.

Kind of like a dinner pic with only two things required. Don't hurt yourself kids. But would be a kind of quirky way of taking them.

Plus we all would know it started here. We can all guess what you were driving by the mirror. First in a Ferrari I give a 10.

Just a thought. Don't quote and I will pull this out. Then we can start a thread. Could be fun.  Please opine.

There will be no screwing Ferrari mirrors to the side of a Honda.....Points will be deducted for that.

Any trucks with BMW mirrors will be too.
