I had a customer contact me about a transfer today. He bought a gun through gunbroker from a private seller. (Unlicensed) The seller is out of state and wants to ship me the firearm to transfer to the customer. I'm wondering if someone can help me figure out how to record this in my A&D? I am also looking for an area within the ATF site to reference this. Thanks for the help! Cheers

Seller ships firearm to your premises or other shipment receiving address. You record it in your A&D book using seller's name and address.

Please quote the law/regulation stating a DL is required.

There isn't one, but it is a "best course" to avoid ATF questions during an inspection.

What questions? CFR does not require DL # entered into A book.

So I get a gun, I enter name & address into book as required. 2 years later I get inspected. What questions are going to be asked?

The OP wasn't asking for his opinion or his rules.

Are you afraid of this scenario?
IOI: Do you require a copy of a sellers DL?
FFL: No.
IOI: Why not?
FFL: Because it's not required.
IOI: Yes it is.
FFL: Show me.
IOI: Well I can't.
FFL: Exactly, lets move on with the inspection.

No as it would not happen, and if it did, it would go exactly like that. NOP.

I'm still not a fan of this new quote format. Anyways, Rock Six, don't be afraid to tell ATF "you're wrong".

To the OP
Ask yourself this question?
How do you log in a gun that you take in on trade?  or consignment?
Same thing.

Your sandbox.....
But, more places doing tranfers have their own rules ontop of the ATF

Some dealers will not accept transfers from non-licensees... THEIR CHOICE
Some dealers want a clear copy of the out of state seller's drivers license with a physical address rather than a PO Box.
