That would be so sweet with a suppressor on it...!!!
I'm dying to know the ballistics of a 9mm with a 16.5" barrel. |

Looking for suggestions for a muzzle device. I am not digging the A2 squirrel cage. Perhaps I'll go with a Vortex as they seem to be effective at eliminating flash. What do you guys think? I'll try to chronograph a few tomorrow if I remember but these are Rainier 115 Grain reloads that we don't have loaded especially hot. I hope they run. If not, I'll load up some sub gun stuff and retry it next week.
Here's a link to the mags I bought. If any of you are thinking about the conversion, get some while they are on sale. $12.95 is a GREAT DEAL... Linky |

In looking at the numbers, it appears that the velocity gain starts to gradually diminish with added barrel length. Definitely no need to go beyond the 13" barrel length of the X95 (9mm) |

Just a quick report back. While the 9mm conversion kit was fun, I was mildly hacked that my $352 Timney trigger would NOT function using the 9mm. Anyone care to speculate why it will not? Fortunately, I had the stock trigger pack in my range bag and it functioned just fine...

You know, I called them last week and asked specifically if their trigger pack presented any problems with the conversion and their tech said that he had not heard of one not working... I'm calling them back tomorrow and asking for a refund. I'd expect $350 to go bang every single time. I don't mind paying for quality but I want it to work consistently... Could this be why Geissele hasn't started selling theirs yet?

I believe the tavor-dallas works with either. I have one on order.

Timney rushed t market and their trigger has had a lot of glitches. |

Not sure what is the issue being mention on the Timney trigger and the 9mm.
I haven't had any issues with the Timney trigger the 9mm kit. Have about 250 rounds down range. Ordered mine for them at Shot. Varied from slow fire to rapid fire between multiple targets. No issues. And even double tap on 300 yard gong with this trigger. 9mm takes a long time to travel that far. ?? $12 is 1/2 the price I paid for my original mags. Thanks the the info. |

View Quote It's not all Timney triggers that had issues. Just a lot of reports of various issues with the 9mm, just as there were a lot of reports of issues with it and the normal 5.56 configuration. |

Well, I've got a call in to Timney. We will see how they resolve it. I'd like to keep the trigger pack.

Even with 5.56, the A2 is pretty close in performance to the newer models costing 10-20x as much, until you get to a pretty short barrel length. With 9mm, I think it'll be a non-issue. If you want a cool looking device, buy whatever looks good to you. |
|
I went with a Smith Vortex for flash supression since I will likely be shooting this thing indoors if it ever came to that... I didn't see a need for any type of brake.

I admit that there are a few more exotic-looking flash hiders out there that work a tad bit better (for more money) than the traditional A2 birdcage, but the A2 is a compact, very effective, and very inexpensive flash hider that works well with 5.56 rifles. Especially on a standard 16+ inch barrel. |
|
and honestly the A2 would have been more than sufficent on the 9mm but I can't leave anything alone... I just have to make it mine and change a few parts.

Any issues finding muzzle devices in the proper thread pitch?
Is this the same pitch as the AR15/9 ? |

Well, it appears that my order got cancelled because Cobra Tactical said Smith Enterprises no longer offers the Vortex in 1x36. Anyone have other suggestions for a muzzle device for the 9mm Kit?

Looks like these people have it in stock.

How far back could you cut the barrel and still use the suppressor. Will the I.D. of the tavor handguard fit the O.D. of a typical 9mm can (like an Octane)?

I also opted for the timney and had the same issue. They replaced mine but I have not shot it yet... Maybe tomorrow I will and give a range report. |

My replacement Timney ran like a champ at the ARFCOM HTF shoot today! Thanks for the suggestions for sources on the muzzle device for my 9mm guys...
