Wow...
I love the er... Hamon (Only say that for Japanese blades?) the wavy heat-treat/tempering line on the survival chopper. |
|
Amazing. I love that hamon - or whatever it's called, too! Well done, sir.

That Chopper just looks mean, I love em both though!!
I wish I could say I'd try my hand at creating a knife, but who the hell am I kidding, I can't draw a straight stick figure. No artistic ability at all. So I'll just continue to drool over what you guys create. |

Great looking, untilitarian, rugged tools. Well done, keep up the fine work.

The Bullnose Skinner is one of the most impressive knives I've ever seen. Just by the looks of that stout blade, I'm not sure if there's a force powerful enough to compromise the integrity of that blade; it literally looks bullet-proof and capable of surviving a nuclear fallout. Incredibly well done!

The are both gorgeous! That skinner needs to find it's way to my place in Texas. I don't suppose these are for sale?

Hello all,
Thank you all for your comments, it gives my work meaning to know it's well received. I posted these two blades to get feedback from you all, my peers. I want to be on the right track as far as blade design and handle colors. I understand that what I like isn't necessarily what you all like. That being said... From the comments above, we all have about the same taste. When I was making the "yellow jacket" paper micarta I thought I might have been going a little overboard with the color combination. A good friend of mine said "well, no guts no glory".. I do sell my work openly on a website but I also highly respect the rules of this forum. Anyone is welcome to contact me if they have any questions. Again seriously, thank you all. -Ben |

I've seen people talk about making micarta, can someone direct me to the process, or explain it?

Nice designs.
Are you sure the blade on the skinner is thick enough? Mrstang, youtube has a ton of videos on making micarta. |

Quoted: Thank you, If I could have made it thicker and still function I would have. I'm notoriously bad on knives so personally I see value in a knife being hard to kill.Nice designs. It's weird but I think that first model would look amazing with black scales... although the yellow micarta is nice.
can't wait for mine, great stuff!!! |

Just finished this today, (16" blade) (25 1/4" overall) (2" tall) (1/4" thick 5160) Nice. Like really nice. |

Style....he gots it
Nice micarta on the yellow scales, super cool. I'm inspired to try to make my own. What kind of paper did you use? Construction paper? Posterboard? |

Quoted: Details on the Gladius, that looks awesome! Thank you, what can I tell you? It has a convex grind, clay heat treated, 57HRC edge and a nice springy 47HRC down the middle. The longer handle gives the blade superb balance in one hand while allowing the user to use both hands if need be. I built the tip extra stout to take more piercing punishment rather than a slashing edge, although it will slash just fine. It's a user, that's for sure. |

Big and bold, I like them all. You could go into buisness just making micarta; it looks incredible.

Hey guys, just wanted to post a comment on these knives. My wife was on the short list for E8 and had been asking me for a knife she could carry in her boot or tucked into her BDU pants under her shirt. I wanted something nice in the event she actually got the promotion so I started looking in here.....and found Ben.
I started emailing him discussing what I / she wanted. Ben even sent me a template of his EDC knife, which I gave to the spouse and said "How would you want your knife?" After tracing and whittling away she came up with what would be her perfect EDC, that I sort of named the Blade Le femme. Sent the design to Ben with a request from her for "pink and black micarta" handles to keep it "gurly" for her. What I got less then a week later was, well, awesome! I will definately be doing more business with Ben, especially a particular project he and I both got excited about.... Soon as I figure out how to post pics, I'll get 'em up so you can see this gem. (Ben,you still got the ones you took? Can you post 'em? I'm illiterate...) |

Quoted: Recurve Fighter Black on Black Micarta scales. Thanks for looking. What was the price on this one again please? I just keep looking at it. |
