I saw a photo of the XM177E2 and it had an interesting long flashhider on it.  Does anyone know if these are available to put on a pre-ban CAR-15.  Also does anyone know any specs on it. Thanks in advance.

There was a thread around here somewhere just a week ago or so on this topic.

The originals had a series of baffles in it, mainly to increase backpressure so the short barrels would work reliably. The gov't. found these baffles reduced the sound by about 2dbs. (To around the sound of a rifle with a 20" barrel.) The ATF ruled then these as sound suppressors and needed to be regulated as class 3 stuff.

Therefore, you will have to settle with a copy of the originals. Most copies do not have the baffles.
