I have no idea what this gun is:

The top picture appears to be an AK veriant with some sort of clear plastic mag.

The M16 mag could be for another caliber round. Is it possible that they have M16's made in a round other than 5.56mm? It doesn't make sense that the phillipines would not use the NATO round, but it is possible.

India makes their own rifles. The one pictured is based on the AK and is in 5.56mm. I can't recall what the darned thing's called, but I'll keep looking. They went to 5.56mm and looked at buying several different types. They even bought a large quantity of Norinco's in 5.56mm for field tests and came close to stadardizing on them. In the end though they decided to make their own and that is what they wound up with. I'll keep looking to find the name of it.
As for the mag in the second pic, WTF? I guess it's so you can get lower to the ground than if it stuck straight out, but damn! I'd rather just deal with a 30rd and change mages than have something that ugly sticking out. What do you think? 50 rounder? Ross |

My guess:
The mag in the M16 looks like like its two-sided (feeds from both ends). Kind of like having two mags in one. Maybe? |

The Phillipinos are incredible Jerry-Riggers. My guess is that the mag is a home grown deal. If you have ever ridden on their Jeepnies, you would be amazed at what great fender-benders they are.

That's one of the reason I'm wondering about photoshopping. The other is the cammo does not match the rifle and there's too much 'shinny' on the mag for use by most seasoned combat troops. (And those guys are seasoned. Under trained but seasoned.) |

I for the life of me cant tell. And it looks like it has some sort of synthetic white edging, because you notice it makes the magazine as wide as the magazine well. So Im assuming it ends where the magazine meets the mag well.
VERY strange. |

Part of the time when I look at the edging it looks like aluminum. Other times it looks like.....well I don't know what it looks like. Maybe this is the guy's 'full dress, in town' mag !! |

INSAS=galikanov? or kalashnagil?
the Phillipino mag looks like a limited production jig made affair....maybe made by the guys brother or uncle or something. Early M16 thirty rounders and even VERY early ak 30 rounders had strange appearnaces also....though NOWHERE near as odd as that thing. The Phillipinos often play by their own interesting set of rules. |
