I just need one little bit of advice before I post my new PC, and it may be very newbish. What's the best way to attach my kwyi to the avs flap of my jpc? I used that WTFix straps that came with it but they're a tad too short to go through all four molle loop things on the back of the kwyi so I just have it going through the top three, so it flexes a little on the bottom. Is that okay or should I be using something else?

You only use the Top 3 rows of webbing when mounting (not 4). This pouch is made for AR-15 style magazines." |

Took this one for Instagram but thought I'd share it here since I have it saved anyways. Only thing missing from the pic is the rear plate bag. I run bare bones, no hydro, and either with or without side plates and a GP pouch set up on different cummerbunds.

RIP CPT Mike Medders and SGT Cory Spates
OIF 07-09 Diyala, Iraq |
They are aluminum Australpin Cobra buckles. No, they do not dig into your sides, no matter how you contort your body.
The Cobra buckles make it much quicker and easier to don/doff than a carrier with a standard cummerbund, and the elastic nylon tubing used in the cummerbund has just enough give to make it comfortable when moving and breathing hard, while still providing sufficient tension to keep the carrier snugly in place. Lighter, more breathable, lower profile, and faster than a full cummerbund, but more comfortable and secure than basic single-strap setups with male/female QD buckles. Best of both worlds. (And if needed, you could potentially weave MOLLE pouches or side armor carriers onto the triple webbing, but I have no need for those.) AWC offers a retrofit kit for plate carriers: https://www.americanweaponscomponents.com/product/derma-universal-cummerbund-kit-duck Arbor Arms offers a similar kit: https://arborarmsusa.com/cummerbund-kits/frc-kit/ |

Works great. Just enough give to let you comfortably crouch/crawl/sit/etc, but not so much that it flops about unnecessarily.
They all seem to perform fairly similarly, so go for whatever one has the size and internal/external features you want. This particular one seems like it is a bit larger than most. |

I'm new to the whole plate carrier thing. I have a shitty one at work, that I never use, but now I'm thinking of picking one up for myself. I'm in between the Shellback Banshee or Banshee Elite, and the AR500 Veritas or Testudo. Also, I don't want too much gear on it, maybe just some mag pouches and a tourniquet. I'm also stuck between Level III or III+. Somebody help a brother out.

That said since you're looking at 10x12/11x14 carriers and said your "stuck between level III and III+" I'm guessing you're considering steel armor? |

Well, I can definitely vouch for the comfort factor of the Ferro Slickster after last night. I stood a 12 hour shift on static guard, wearing my Slickster underneath my button down shirt, and it was the most comfortable plate carrier experience I have ever experienced.
Never going back to the big, heavy, bulky carriers for dismounted use after this. |

Quick question as I don't want to start a whole new thread. Is single curve half ass comfortable? I won't be wearing these often if that matters. Seems like multicurve are pricey and I am on a budget.

Those of you running the Slickster, what do you do for hydration? The only thing I could find online is that they make a rear plate pocket that has molle on it, but that's a pretty steep add-on. Any other options other than throwing a water bottle in one of the side pockets?
