Unless I've come down with a case of the 'tard, I can't for the life of me find a 'Post pics of your plate carrier setup' thread...? I searched with all my team powers but couldn't find one?

If there is none, I will post mine up and start one- or does anyone know where it went? I coulda sworn I've seen one?

ETA: Not talking about chest rigs, or 'gear' in general. I'm talking about strictly plate carriers.

ETA2: One other person can't find one either; so that must mean this is none! THIS IS NOW A PLATE CARRIER THREAD!

––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

Please BE SURE to post specs if you join in! Including Plates inside!

With chest rig attached:

Chest rig detached:

Velocity Systems LWPC in MC with two triple-curve plates by RMR tactical inside.

Chest rig is clipped on using the Velocity Systems 'Swift Clip' Attachment system. Chest rig is a TT mini-mav with a triple mag shingle, and two modded Eagle FB pistol mag pouches on each side (modded to fit double stack glock mags). Pouch in front is a MSM Admin pouch.

I LOVE this PC because I can not only have a chest rig attached, but also use it under clothing as a low-pro carrier.

The Ares Armor Plate Carrier Silencers?    I believe Ares Armor is no longer in business or changed business model.    What color plate carrier silencer do you need?

They're not answering emails or phone calls.  I had one on order with LA Police gear but they canceled the order after 4 months.  I'm going to try making my own, I've got some velcro and webbing on order, I just need to find someone to stitch it together.

Thought I'd share some photos of my rig I've updated while in AFG. Needed to add the side plates and since issued size are 7"x8" instead of 6"x6" I had to be a bit more creative as Crye didn't offer anything that would work and their tech support had no suggestions.

PIG Molle Side Plate Carrier set on Crye CPC:

The Velcro strap accessory worked great.

Indeed. There isn't always a porto potty where I go and figured sitting next to my PLB was a proper place cause when I light that up I'll be shitting my pants at that point.

You sir just one 10 internets from me. The side plate issue was the one thing keeping me from purchasing a CPC. Problem solved. Guess I can put  this crappy issue plate carrier in the corner after all.

Looking to upgrade my issued point blank vest carrier with plates. It only gets worn on warrant service and high profile stuff so the extra weight should t be too bad.

I'd go with lvl 4 ceramics. Lighter than steel and rated to stop more threats.  And if you look around you can find them for around $25-$30 more a plate than steel after you add curves and the anti spall coatings to the steel (which it needs IMO).

So for an extra $50 you get ceramics.

Any photographs of the full carrier?

Switching some things out, and Crye carriers are (surprise surprise) topping my list.  Debating whether or not to go balls out and get a full CPC/JPC "suite," or whether to go with the AVS "system."

OOOOkay guys.  I need a little help.  I have a standard molle PC that holds my LEO soft armor.  This one is basically set up for if I'm off duty and responding to something or backing somebody up (we have take home cars for a reason).     Then I have a PIG set up with level 4 in the front and level 3 in the back and sides.  This is for on duty response to higher threat situations and is fairly slick.  4 ar mags and hydration with a trauma kit.  It goes over my uniform and existing soft armor.

NOW I am looking at putting together an unrelated type setup.  This one will likely have soft armor AND plates in it, and will probably carry a little more than my response setup above.  I don't give two shits about multicam or whatever the current "in thing" is.  I don't have the money right now for a Crye, until some other gear sells.  I'm okay with coyote or some other "less desirable" color than multicam.  Sure, I could save the money on top of what I have now and just buy once, Crye once.  But I want to start this next build, which can also later become my wife's armor or someone else in my family can use it if need be.

So tell me what I should get in the $300 range (carrier only).  JPC? APC? Tyr?  Are there any places with super ridiculous clearance or closeout sales?  Steep discounts?

My setup is pretty weak but it's what I have at the moment.

Heh, I came across that PC but on their euro site. Didn't know you could get it in the states. If I was going to get another PC I'd get the Spitfire, thats for sure.

They just added it to the US site about a month ago, then got all colors in a couple of weeks ago.  I was waiting for Urban Gray myself.

How well does the D3 Heavy work with 5.56 mags? I wish this is what the original had been, I had one and sold it because the med kit was too cramped for my liking and I never found a good use for the stuffit.

Figured the heavy would have taken off but I hardly ever see anybody with one.

Is that a blade antenna for a 148 / 152 ? If so it's really not a good choice for VHF / UHF. They are rated 30-90MHz (but usually acceptable to 115

It is a blade, but it's not a Harris. I'm aware of the limitations on the Harris. It's a Chinese antenna rated from 30-512. I was skeptical at first but it seems to work well and definitely gives me improved range over my Nagoya 701 and 771s.

Bought it from Ebay

I believe it's marketed for Airsoft but seems to be well made and works well, IMO.

I connect it to the Baofeng using a TNC Female to SMA Female adapter

I can hit distant repeaters loud and clear with it, that were either barely audible or not recieved at all with my Nagoya antenna.

Good looking set up.  I've been running the D3 for awhile now and really like it.  I've been thinking of getting a MMH and using it as an IFAK, do you have any particular gripes or complaints about yours?
